My mom likes classic country, but she always listened to her hippie dippie shit when I was younger. Dad is into punk, new wave, and prog rock, so I was never exposed to country, I mean, my parents met at a club in NYC, ffs. The closest was Southern rock, which I guess is closer to what country is now then what it was 30 years ago. Got into electronic music because of my dad in middle school, and that was about it. I would hear the other kids in school listen to country and I would be all, "WAT IS THIS SHIT?" Which is much of the same reaction the boy had when he first heard my playlists. I take pride in the fact that I have pretty diverse listening tastes for someone my age, but modern country, much like most of current hip hop and pop, IMO is garbage.

I'm not going to lie, I like country music, but all the shit I like was done in the 80's. This new shit they're selling as country isn't. It's pop in cowboy boots. Fuck that noise.

Steel guitar and rims.

Soooo, some friends who were letting me use their driveway and their house as a command base have a spare closet under the stairs they offered me.

I have a home now! I can almost stretch out completely.

What with this crawlspace and my new haircut I'm on top of the world today!

Woke up to news that a friend, the daughter of old SCA friends, passed away.  She was only 31.

I have something to say today.

Probably right after the morning meeting.

Williams Jr. is solid fucking proof talent skips a generation, because his father and son are goddamn awesome.

And what about David Allen Coe?

Gnarly, racist, redneck. Despite myself, I love his music.

I gathered the gnarly redneck part by looking at him, racist I didn't know. Not that it's totally surprising.

Blah.  Work tonight and Saturday.  In two months of being here, I will have worked exactly one night consecutive to my first night of work for the week.  I mean, I suppose there is an upside, as two 12 hour shifts, back to back, are pretty heavy going.  But it does mean not spending from Thursday morning until Sunday sleeping during the day.

LMNO

That doesn't exactly sound like what you signed up for.

Cain

Well, I knew from my interview they couldn't guarantee two nights in a row.  For me.  For others, sure.  But not me.  I'm also working, normally, a Friday and Sunday shift.  Which is fair enough, as I have no social life, but if I did...well, that would be pretty annoying.
