My great grandmother could remember the first heavier than air flight, and she was still completely geeked out by shuttle launches at the time of her death.

Very happy lady, she was.  Every decade made things neater and nicer (well, nicer after the second war) and more what she had been promised by Jules Verne's & HG Wells' books.
