TESTEMONAIL:  Right and Discordianism allows room for personal interpretation. You have your theories and I have mine. Unlike Christianity, Discordia allows room for ideas and opinions, and mine is well-informed and based on ancient philosophy and theology, so, my neo-Discordian friends, open your minds to my interpretation and I will open my mind to yours. That's fair enough, right? Just claiming to be discordian should mean that your mind is open and willing to learn and share ideas. You guys are fucking bashing me and your laughing at my theologies and my friends know what's up and are laughing at you and honestly this is my last shot at putting a label on my belief structure and your making me lose all hope of ever finding a ideological group I can relate to because you don't even know what the fuck I'm talking about and everything I have said is based on the founding principals of real Discordianism. Expand your mind.

So, regarding the "active" part in all this, what the fuck does it mean?  What is so very thought-provoking about non-action?  To whom does the clarion sing in ringing silence?

I think the idea is that it's a hell of a lot more work to be something you're not, than to be something you are. But that doesn't mean that "being what you are" is easy, especially considering that modern consumer society has built an entire culture out of being what we aren't (and our progressively less healthy bodies and lifestyles is a testament to this). It is now easier to behave unnaturally than to behave naturally. It takes less conscious effort to waste most of your life and all of your energy striving in futility for some preposterous and impossible ideal, so it seems easier to "go with the flow" in modern consumer society, even though doing so drains you and ruins your body.

Or something.

I sometimes take the idea of "difficulty" in this context to be commensurable with resistance.  It's like the drag or friction of ego trying to press against its own non-existence: something that, with burning convenience, wants smoke to be mistaken for fire.
