Imagine colluding with the Russians again only to waste that potential on trying to smear Hunter Biden.

Some article I read predicted Trump will crash around the 21st due to the course of drugs he's on being stopped. Here's hoping.

What metric do you possibly use to tell? It's been 4 years+ of crash, just with a different face every day.

At this point going completely "the aristocrats!" will barely shift the vote.
Nine naked Men just walking down the road will cause a heap of trouble for all concerned.

Ah, Doc, yeah, Pence did better than expected, but it's hard not to when your running mate is a jabbering lunatic by contrast.

Calling Free Market Capitalist bootlickers COMMIE SHILLS FOR SOCIALIST REGULATIONS because they're in support of lawsuits against Facebook + Twitter for "Censoring" that dumbass Hunter Biden story is my new Hobby  :lulz:

"Whoa - I hate DemocrapBook as much as the next guy, but telling a Private entity what they can and can't display on their own Product/Service sounds like pretty heavy regulation and a slippery slope to Communism, bro."

Also, QAnon recruiting and Research is quickly moving to Parler.com from 8Chan/Kun.

I just got a Trumpster to go full Commie with this tactic. Purity Politics is splitting the Left, but it's easily weaponized against the Right-Wingers too.

I mean, he literally described China's internet regulation policies, treating individual websites as Public Utilities to be controlled by the government, and not only agreed that this is how Social Media should be treated, but also insisted that that this is actually how US Internet Law works currently. I mean, sure, Internet is treated as a Utility to an extent, but not individual Sites/Services on the Internet.

There's a lot of that going around lately, as well as the less extreme option of making social media websites responsible for what is published on them.

Beyond the ideological lolz, what they don't understand is that doing this would actually hurt their cause even more. You don't think Biden, Hillary Soros etc would lodge multimillion dollar lawsuits against Facebook, Youtube etc for disseminating libellous conspiracy theories the moment that became possible? Half the conservative grift would become economically unviable overnight because that grift is based entirely around telling outrageous lies about your political opponents.

Yeah I feel like the current dialog re: social media and how it should be regulated is like that Looney Tunes bit where Buggs and Daffy pull out successively larger and larger weapons until the guns are planet-sized.

‣ On one hand we have a zero regulation mediascape which is dominated by evocative clickbait... which itself becomes a kind of death spiral because that level of intensity numbs people. Every post is HUNTER BIDEN SMOKES CRACK IN HELL, or TRUMP'S PENIS LOOKS LIKE THE FLY ON PENCE'S HEAD

‣ On the other hand we have a high-regulation mediascape... Which is either basically silent (all content is just Shares from "reputable sources"), or fogged up with metadata. Like when fast food places started displaying calorie counts under everything. It added all this qualifying info, which, for many, only further confuses their reasoning.

The fun thing about the Internet is that we really can have both terrible outcomes at once.... like if twitter decides every single link needs a FactCheck under it--but the fact checking is low-credibility so it actually backfires.

Not to be all "PhonesAreBad", but the IDEAL situation is one in which social media is basically ruined for everybody. So, I'm optimistic.

THIS. Of course all one has to do is strong-arm the DoJ into action, but what happens when the pendulum swings the other way? I mean, no doubt sooner or later a number of someones really WILL get locked up. This kind of escalation can only end in a dystopian disaster. Whatever happened to "mutually assured destruction" that used to stay itchy trigger fingers? Gone the way of the past if these RWNJs keep pushing the issue.

This is literally exactly what Facebook did. One of their fact-checkers is the Tucker Carlson-founded Daily Caller. Yes, that Tucker Carlson. One of their deputy editors was a close friend of Richard Spencer, while one of their biggest contributing writers is the guy who organised the "Unite the Right" Charlottesville 2017 rally.

Nah, no need to get the DoJ involved once the law is changed. They'll sue for damages and even in the unlikely event that they settle out of court, advertisers and investors won't throw away money on publications that risk being sued into oblivion. No need for jail for anyone.

I stand corrected, I was under the impression that the pendulum could swing both ways and that the actions of the right wing have been amazingly self-destructive in the long-run, but I failed to see how one-sided it could be in the face of actually big money, which is pretty one-sided when it comes to extraordinarily deep pockets with little to lose. I thought simply of the fact that eventually the RWNJs will be out of power and their abuses of power would be siezed upon as precedent, and then the DoJ would be under different control, but in this scenario the pendulum never swings back. I'll be ok with that as long as we never endure another populist idiot reality television star, but my knowlege of human nature tells me this isn't the last time. It probably goes without saying that those kinds of idiots are an aspect of history and will come time and time again seeking power.

Alright, who had "Borat compromising Rudy Giuliani by filming him with his hands down his pants while alone in a hotel room with his 15 year old daughter" on their bingo card?

What? Oh god link?

https://www.theguardian.com/film/2020/oct/21/rudy-giuliani-faces-questions-after-compromising-scene-in-new-borat-film

QuoteIn the film, released on Friday, the former New York mayor and current personal attorney to Donald Trump is seen reaching into his trousers and apparently touching his genitals while reclining on a bed in the presence of the actor playing Borat's daughter, who is posing as a TV journalist.

Following an obsequious interview for a fake conservative news programme, the pair retreat at her suggestion for a drink to the bedroom of a hotel suite, which is rigged with concealed cameras.

After she removes his microphone, Giuliani, 76, can be seen lying back on the bed, fiddling with his untucked shirt and reaching into his trousers. They are then interrupted by Borat who runs in and says: "She's 15. She's too old for you."

Representatives for Giuliani have not replied to the Guardian's requests for comment.

I've seen a still from the scene. It's...not a good look.
