NAFR Sermon 16 / Rant 89: Echoes and Reflux

-What the Second Law of Thermodynamics actually says. (Don't believe those people who misrepresent it as "The entropy of a closed system cannot decrease." To wit, If 'order from disorder' is supposed to violate the 2nd law of thermodynamics, why is it ubiquitous in nature?)

The key is the phrase, "sole result". The nutshell answer is that order does spontaneously arise from chaos but the overall chaos of the entire system simultaneously increases. One could, fairly correctly, interpret the Second Law of Termodynamics to read, "The imposition of local order always causes an equal or greater escalation of universal chaos".
