but the funny thing is they've all been dumbed down
no more points or alibis
no more resistance to the way we lie

The union sold their souls to someone else today
the foreman is missing so lets get away

The warden is wondering why his prisoners behave
they won't get out on good behavior
even if that's the state they've made
where no one lies or cheats or steals
they just beg and bow and eat their meals

The only inmate in a straight jacket lives outside the asylum
seeing things through the broken glass of a phylum and a genus
long over due for extinction
he's afraid he's found the distinction between modern man and the ancients
