john paul george and ringo bought a fake guru, syd barret wen t insane adn inspired 3 fo the greatest albums ever recorded in any genre. teh fourth great album by pink floyd, although nto inspired directly or in part by syd(roger), is till one of teh gtreatest albums of any genre ever recorded.

never mention meddle, which although sub greatest album in any genre, still r0x0rz with oen fo these days and echoes(never mind the othe r3 songs which also rock.)

The Beatles and Pink Floyd are tied in terms of pure unadulterated awesomeness but are both trumped by Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention. If any one person has earned the right to make fun of The Beatles, it's Frank Zappa, and he's dead.

frank zaapa is ok. i ahve respect fo rhim, because i through in some of his vinyl i foudn in my aunt's closet which ir equisitioned for teh people's republic of the basement and realzied that oen fo my idea of music(whichwas to throw a bunch fo shti together palyign  randomly on instruemnts we didn't knwo how to play) ahd already realized. possibly for the worst, fantomas hadn't heard the same album and made the album of which i cannto qutie recall teh name, although they can play.

Pink Floyd is actually probably overrated. (Except the word "overrated" is thrown around so much by music nerds it no longer has any meaning) Not to say that they aren't mind-numbingly awesome, but they're made out to be the Mecca of post-60s psychedelia, as if not listening to them every single night and being seen without a faded Dark Side of the Moon T-shirt was some sort of sin against hippie-dom, when in reality, there are prog rock bands like ELO and The Moody Blues that are almost as good and get no recognition at all.

Pink Floyd was awful redundant. (I think Coldplay listened to too much
Pink Floyd.)

Later I was really into the Byrds, the Yardbirds and the Who. Still have
all the vinyls.

Zappa really blew me away, too. I was playing in this band, so I haunted
the record store looking for music, and Freak Out! was hanging on the
wall staring at me for the longest time. Who was this band called the
Mothers of Invention and why did they have this wierd album cover?
(I was in Indiana remember.) Finally I couldn't take it any more and I
bought the album. (I had finally found the source for all the Suzy
Creamcheese cuts the local djs played.) I remember thinking, if they
could get somebody who can sing, these guys would be really good.
Remember the quote on the album, some record co. pr guy who said
"I can make you as big as the Turtles"? Yeah, later Frank hires Flo
and Eddie to sing.

BTW, one of my favorite things to listen to is Patrick O'Hearn, who does
new age electronic stuff. Guess whose bass player he was? Yup. Frank.

Just because both of those types of people are retards, however, doesn,Äôt mean that the Beatles aren,Äôt shit. Yes, everyone knows that they started out as a fairly irritating pop band beloved by shrieking, frumpy teenage girls, but that actually isn,Äôt why they suck. Things didn,Äôt start getting really unbearable until John Lennon and George Harrison turned into pretentious, drug -addled proto-hippie cultists and Paul McCartney decided to start writing whimsical ditties. Ringo, of course, did not have to make any significant adjustments in order to suck. For every memorable ,Äúclassic,Äù Beatles song, there are five that are annoying novelty songs, four that are unbearably dated, three that are worthless R&B covers, two that are failed sonic experiments, and one that,Äôs written by Ringo. If we wash all of those away from their dozen or so studio albums, we,Äôre left with about half an album,Äôs worth of decent material. We,Äôll throw in some mediocre old tracks, call it ,ÄúOne,,Äù and it,Äôll move more copies than Kinko,Äôs.

Gods, that's perfect.

Yep, he hated writing lyrics, even though he loved writing music.  So sometimes, well, hehehaha, lots of times, he would write ridiculous lyrics.  And on the, I think it was American Bandstand, he asked his band to mouth anything except the correct lyrics when told they were supposed to lip sync rather than actually sing.
