I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him.

Jerry Cantrell

He should have been kissing Layne Staley's heroin soaked ass every day because without him his band would have been suckola!!

Overrated: the "grunge" scene in general.

Not only that, but it made the clothes I have always worn over priced, which really pisses me off.  Ditto that for my hubby.

East Coast Hustle

THERE IS NOT NOW, NOR WAS THERE EVER A "GRUNGE" SCENE.

THAT IS FUCKING ALL.

Some yahoo yelled at me, saying 'GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH', and I thought, "I'm feeling generous today.  Why not BOTH?"

LMNO

Mudhoney = sooo not grunge.

Soundgarden = probably not grunge

Silverchair = grunge, cuz they called themselves that.

ECH, saying there was no grunge is like saying there was never anything called punk because the bands in the 70's & 80's didn't call themselves punk.

AFK

A lot of genre titles fall apart once you start examining the bands who are allegedly in said genre.  For example Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains are so far apart musically yet they were both considered grunge.  Perhaps a better title would have been "Seattle Slew" Or "Rainy Rock"  Then you could throw in Queensryche and Candlebox.

Speaking of Queensryche.  I think they are getting desperate for in 2006 they will release their next album entitled:  Operation Mindcrime II.

To expand on my previous post:

Grunge bands only occured after the general umbrella label "grunge" was used by the industry and/or media, and then new bands voluntarily worked within that label.

Cf:  Punk (stooges vs Blink 182), Goth (Joy Division vs Switchblade Symphony), Metal (the first Sabbath record vs Dokken).

I would pay to see this.

Actually, I think blink are actually smart enough to know they're really just a faded memory of punk, and would simply lay down at Iggy's feet.

Good Charlotte on the other hand...
