PUNK ROCK TRIED TO KILL THE METAL! But they failed, as they were smite to the ground!

I thought this is all there is,
but now I know you are so much more.
I want to upgrade from my simple eight bits,
but will you still love me when I'm sixty-four?

Metal bands I just discovered that are worth getting:

Blinded Colony - no one does it better than the Swedes. These guys do it better than most of the rest of the Swedes.

A Thousand Years Slavery - Swiss metal, so you know the drummer is tight.

Salome - Experimentalish post-metal sludge.

Sakkuth - The Aussies have had a really good underground death metal scene for a few years now. It might not be so underground once everyone hears these guys.

Some yahoo yelled at me, saying 'GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH', and I thought, "I'm feeling generous today.  Why not BOTH?"

Amon Amarth is pretty fuckin cool, in spite of having named themselves after something from a Tolkein book.

You should check out the Folk Metal scene.  I've been exploring it lately and I've seen many bands with LOTR names:  Minas Morgul, Minas Turith, etc.  There's also some new age guy who goes by the name of Gandalf.  It appears that Tolkien's inspiration on the rock scene has lived far beyond the Led Zepplin years.

This is actually extremely common, in black metal especially.

where the fuck have you been? We coulda been drinking moscow mules last month.

Living with the girlfriend, and oddly, moving a hell of a lot.
So, sadly, no internets for the last few months... I log in at teh pubic library and I occasionally steal an internet connection at my apt.

Sorry I missed you when you were in town, my email is generally a sure-fire way to get ahold of me, even if I appear to have dropped off the face of the earth.

East Coast Hustle

OK. I PM'd you here but I don't think I have your regular email addy. PM it to me and I'll let you know when I'm passing back through in late march/early april.

Metalheads: Universum. The album is called "Leto Destinatus".

it's good.

REALLY good.

I've had it for a day and it's already in my top ten best metal albums ever list.

AFK

I know no one cares, but I'm posting this anyway.  I have very few bands left that I follow that I was following in my younger years.

The new cover for the new My Dying Bride album is out.  (well, it was leaked and the band are a bit upset about it)

Song titles:

Fall With Me
My Body, A Funeral
The Lies I Sire
Bring Me Victory
Echoes From A Hollow Soul
ShadowHaunt
Santuario Di Sangue
A Chapter in Loathing
Death Triumphant

Yeah, I know they sound a little  :emo:

Also, the violin is back in the mix.  They were one of the first metal bands to incorporate orchestral instruments into their sound and they abandoned it after their violin player left to join Cradle of Filth.  But it's back.  Album is out March 23rd.  And so the wait continues...
