Yeah, I've used those before. Some of the shops out here carry them both flavored and unflavored. They're pretty fun to use. Sometimes I'll grab one for something to chew on after meals. It freshens the breath and cleans the teeth! Double bonus. Just be careful not to suck on them too long or the wood can come loose in splinters. Luckily, all it takes is letting the stick dry overnight then cutting the used area away with a pocket knife and you're good again.

It's been awhile. I should do it again some time!

I mean, I make them drool all the time.

Happy drool or involuntary?  :)

Feeling sad and pissy. It's been a LONG week! Call up my buddy Chris who is also having a suck-tastic week.
FUCK IT- PARTY TIME.

Bitch about love and lust for awhile. Oh yes, feels good man.
Talk about exes both recent and past and how many of them deserve to bathe in napalm.
Also listen to Chris' dad throw a potential hooker out of his house over the phone. Not sure why he called us.
It's ok, the cops sided with the dad. Looks like we're not the only one having Saturday Night!
Know what? All this bitching and WTF made us hungry. FOOOD!

An Italian place Chris likes just moved locations somewhere near us. I get a Calzone bigger than your head.
All that cheese makes me feel like a fat ass. Time to NERD DANCE down at the arcade!
Cute but gimpy hipster is hitting on me. It's like everyone wants me lately.
It's funny: when I'm not looking/interested suddenly I can gather a harem.
At least I feel nice and sexy. Makes the dancing more fun.
Dance a few rounds, get a little sweaty, and close the joint. Owner shoos us all off.
Drive around with Chris, talking and bitching and talking some more.
Guess who else likes me? Yup. We probably will never date, however, as it might ruin the friendship.

So I'm not getting lucky tonight. It's OK, my drawer of dildos are calling.  :)

I'm not an economist, but as best as I understand the idea in the first post wouldn't really work.

1) Corruption.
Every country has it, it's just the wealthy ones are better at hiding it. There's a good chance that as soon as the project is on the boards, people in the USA will start trying to find ways to game it in order to make money. Embezzlement is the tip of the ice berg. A surprising number of non-profits just plain don't devote most of their money to their cause. The worst spend all their money on fundraising and paying their high-level employees. By the way, making the company look good by swaying public opinion in order to get the governemt to give more funds would count as fundraising.

2) Guilt
Not every single 3rd world occupant needs or wants money nor are we really seeing the full picture from what news reporters send over. I'll use Africa as an example as it's a popular target. Some bushman in Africa would see money as pretty useless considering he'd need to go 40 miles to a city in order to use it. He's happy as he is with his wife and his cattle. He and his family aren't asking for our help. Even city dwellers in Africa might be happy as they are- some richer, some pooer but overall no worse than in parts of the USA. Not all of them will want our country's help even if times are hard.

Ever notice how it's usually people who just plain aren't the group in question always saying what's best for the group? Also, ever notice the sheer guilt they tend to toss out there? We need to stop it. We should be listening to them if we really want to help them, not coming up with crazy schemes they may not even want. Here are Africans wanting to collect Radiators for Norway as a parody  of these programs!

3) Good Luck enforcing it
There's a good chance that combining the first two will result in people getting the money when they don't need it, illegally or not, then using fake documents to buy and sell domestic goods instead of international ones (which are more expensive, by the way). Chances are they will be more clever than I can be right now. Either way, maybe 15-25% of the money that actually made it into people's hands will filter back to the USA at best. I really doubt anyone will want to enforce it, anyway, as it's still helping the country it's meant to "help".

Tangential: I prefer competitive Pokemon (via Pokemon Showdown, not the official games, on account of Nintendo being unable to make a balanced competitive game) over MtG. The ability to accurately predict your opponents moves has a much more important role in the strategy of competitive Pokemon than it does in MtG, and I personally like that element.
You know, I quit playing Pokemon for that exact reason. Now I'm going to have to check out Pokemon Showdown to see what's up.

Back on subject: I visited the channel. I bet the people there are just playing out of sheer nostalgia. It's practically unplayable as they are doing things. The poor guy on the screen barely moves. I blame democracy.

As best as I can figure out "democracy" means the movements will only happen by majority rule once at least 50% of the chat has said the same thing. "Anarchy" seems to ignore voting and pick random users to decide next move? I'm not 100% sure on this. Anyone have a better idea?

I Put A Spell On You... as covered by Marilyn Manson (originally by Screamin' Jay Hawkins)
...with an awesome video cobbled together from "The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari".
All the desperation with half the drunken ranting! Hey, I think it's an improvement...

No worries, it's not on this particular subforum.

Thanks for the link. I'll work on moving these over later. :)

We have a discordian dictionary.
Ahh. Do you have the link so I can move this stuff over there? I browsed back 10+ pages in this forum and didn't see anything.

This is not the case for me, I have been on a general upward trajectory as far as that goes.
Same here! Then again, I have been actively seeking out more people to talk with so that probably has something to do with it. I have lost contact with most of the people I knew 3 years ago online, however. Sometimes I miss them, but I usually just sigh and move on.

Hi Red!  You seem interesting.
Hi there.

Eh, I can't help it: a *cough* interesting life tends to make one interesting. On the bright side, there sure are a lot of interesting people here! :) I'm glad to be here.

Random mass Killing Attempt in Japan. (Formatting is theirs, not mine)
Quote

Today in Nagoya, Japan a man attempted to kill as many people as he could. He rented a car and then deliberately drove it into a crowd hitting whomever he could. His rampage ended when he struck a tree. He reportedly told police, "I tried to kill people with the car."

Thirteen people were injured. One man has a broken hip

There were no fatalities and as of this writing none of the victims is reported to be in a life-threatening condition.

A man flips out and goes on a rampage. It's an all too familiar story. However, in this case the man lived in Japan, where they do not have free access to firearms with large capacity magazines. He injured thirteen people and killed none.

There are dangerous crazy people in every culture in every part of the world.

There is only one developed nation where they have free and easy access to firearms.

That is our country and in our country when somebody flips out and goes on a rampage, there is inevitably a much higher body count.

Firepower matters.

We need strict and common sense gun laws now.

The Second Amendment was about preventing the central government from developing a standing army that could be used as an instrument to suppress states' rights. That theory was put to the test during the Civil War. It failed.

The Second Amendment is a dangerous anachronism and it ought to be repealed.

Ummm... doesn't this article just confirm that even without guns people still flip out and try to kill each other? In fact, it seems cars are a popular Japanese murder weapon and things like knives and baseball bats are still pretty effective. If I use the same logic as the reposter, shouldn't Japan ban all mentally disturbed people from driving, owning knives, or buying a baseball bat?

Another shining example of using a tenuous link to attempt to force others into doing things out of fear.

Thanks. I seem to have unintentionally upset people already. Perhaps it would be best if I slunk back off into anonymity.
EVERYONE pisses someone off on their first few days. I can't begin to count the number of times I've made an ass of myself on assorted forums over time, but you learn that in the end nobody has a clue who you are! So go out there, put something on the line and see if anyone bites.

I also highly suggest visiting 4chan some time. Pick any forum except for /b/ (it's hard mode if you're shy), find a thread and start talking. /Adv/ moves pretty fast and is usually fairly friendly. Some areas move slower than others, so check the catalogue (link on the bottom) to see where your thread is and if it has moved. This will tell you if the thread is quiet or if the entire forum is just quiet! The best part? All threads die and vanish! It's a nice bridge between a chat and a normal forum.

Too clean. It may have once been like that. But after one communal skinny dip we had to bring in a hazmat team. The filters alone had to be burned in a different city, with the wind blowing toward Fukishima.

Well, I guess this explains the Other photo I found....
I guess this was after the hazmat team?

It's like a hamster ball for a fish! I wish pet shops stocked these. They could be a ton of fun for people who like solitary fish such as Betas.

This is a whole lot of crazy, so I'm going to say: Cool, life's all about finding out what works for you.

I've actually been going through his art for the last hour. He's got some really beautiful stuff. I'm not finding anything on his inspiration for pyramid head coming from a dream, as far as I can recall it was an iterative design that didn't have a pyramid at the start, just a malformed featureless head.

One cool thing I found out was that a lot of his inspirations came from an artist called Francis Bacon who does these very isolated harrowing picture, and his art style really evoked the tortured frailty of the "monsters". He does a lot with images of people in geometric cages and railings. I always assumed it was throwback to the film Jacobs ladder but I guess there was more to it than that.
What's even more awesome is that Bacon is Irish and there's a gallery of his work in Dublin, which I am going to go see at the next possible juncture.

This is literally me right now:

Eh, my life is a ball of crazy. You get used to it after awhile.  :lulz:

Drat. I looked around and couldn't find it again, either. I probably got ahold of a bad translation when I read that. Knowing my luck the proper translation should have been "Masahiro Ito dreamed up Pyramid head" as in figurative and the stupid thing gave me literal.  Oh well.

Yeah, going through a horrific war will do things to you and your art. I remember seeing some of these paintings back when I was in high school. They're very distinctive! As a side note, the painting you posted looks a lot like Silent Hill: Downpour's cover.

Hello. I'm monad, apparently.
The theosophical sort, not the functional programming sort. Not that I know much about that, either.
Some of you may recognise me from the IRC.
It has been a while since I've had a persistent identity so it may take some time for me to tune in.
By the way, hello to you too! I'm sure you'll adjust just fine. :) The fact that you chat on IRC will probably make things easier for you as you already know some of the people here!
