This is going to be seen a lot in a certain multi-national Insurance Company in the future weeks.
And I said, I don't care if they lay me off either, because I told, I told Bill that if they move my desk one more time, then, then I'm, I'm quitting, I'm going to quit. And, and I told Don too, because they've moved my desk four times already this year, and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were married, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it's not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire... I think this also will be seen in a certain break room in a certain retail outfit. Though, as usual, they won't take it seriously. We all remember that 99% of this human population is doomed no matter what we do right? Just checking.

and today it will join the zillions of other flyers I've been putting up around the White Plains NY business district.
I swear to Eris I will destroy this city one 8x11 inch rectangle at a time.
Going up in the Law and Engineering buildings on campus here tomorrow.
Yes, I still exist. Just not as often.
It's a bit confrontational for my tastes. When getting people to realize they've stagnated, I usually go for a sort of wistful remember-the-good-old-days kind of feel.

What type of person
is this firum intended for then?
And yes we have wistful reminiscence too., some times it really is better to confront someone though.
It's the confrontational parts of people that are dying off in their ordered little cubes, and their scheduled lives. Telling them to wake up isn't only about "Look around you!" It's also a bit about "Where the fuck has your passion gone?! Why don't you HATE the bastards who are doing this to you?!"
Quote from: Payne on September 27, 2007, 12:38:06 PM
"Where the fuck has your passion gone?! Why don't you HATE the bastards who are doing this to you?!"
but it's not a clear set of bastards!
unless you're gonna do it like Roger does, and hate everybody. oh i considered that option, but it's not really a viable choice for me.
but once you start discriminating, you'll end up with people who are just-doing-their-jobs, just-following-the-rules and are completely imprisoned in being unable to step back, take a fresh look at the situation, and at least realize that some of the things they've been doing are silly beyond belief.
cause there are no bastards who are doing this to you. it's all a headless blunder operating under the illusion of a masterplan.
and some of them are your friends.
and then they call you up and say "don't take this personally, i'm just doing-my-job/following-the-rules", and kind of baffled at the moment you agree.
and then later, when you explain them, fuck that it doesn't make sense of course i take it personally because you did personally have a choice they are all confused and dissapointed and more confused about how apparently their choices do have consequences even if they just-follow-the-rules, but it doesn't register, i should fucking bash their heads in with a crowbar, if only that would help one bit.
"
no i stop here. why can't they see, they make the rules they're imprisoned in, and it makes me sad and enraged at the same time, because some of them are my friends, but i just know they will never see it.
Possibly, maybe I should have worded that better.
Turns out that 99% of the time the bastard thats doing this to you, is YOU.
When you come to the realisation that you hate what you do, what you laughably like to think you "are", then you'll want to change things. (those who don't will often never get it anyway)
Mostly everything else comes down to thinking for yourself and getting a clue.
Thats all actually quite simple in the end, it's starting thats difficult. This "Confrontational" style may not work on everyone, but those it does work on are very effectively and efficiently started off on the first steps.
I think of it as "fire and forget". I usually don't want to stick around and hold peoples hands.

Oh hell yeah. I've been looking for those.
You'll want those on A5 or A4 primarily?
I could also make some for A3 if you're interested.
A3 and A4 would be of more use for me, personally.
I put up a shit-ton of the 11x17 versions in the White Plains Business District today.

The problem I've encountered with a lot of really confrontational guerilla philosophy is that when you start forcing someone to realize that everything they've build their entire life around has been a waste, and a torturous one at that, they start disagreeing with you simply out of principle; they take your words of enlightenment as an insult to them, their life and what they've done with it. Once you reach that point, it becomes significantly harder to shake them out of their shells, because now not only are they dealing with getting over the fact that they've wasted their life, but now they've made a mental association between the philosopher and someone insulting or mean.
but every once in a while, not often, you can make someone stop and go
"shit...... this sucks" and if theyre the right kind of human worm baby OR a little guy (like me) maybe, just maybe, theyll do something to change .... something.
you never know.
i even got in a semi argument w/ a friend of mine last night cause i was talking about cost of living vs. the pay here. she agreed but didnt want to do anything to change anything.
you know, dont rock the boat.(or just too fucking lazy) made me wanna kick her in the funt.
It's definitely worded properly that, if shown to the right person, will tip their boat and get them swimming. As Morpheus put it, though, "[M]any are so hopelessly dependent on the system that they will fight to protect it."
cause they cant think enough for themselves to adapt to change.
this is why i love math(word problems) and science. they promote critical/creative thinking.

You're trying to speak for a huge demographic and utterly missing the point.
What you don't seem to understand is that by insulting people we capture attention. I don't think most people take this personally, you whiny hippie. I think a lot of people will just think this doesn't apply to them and read it from an amused 3rd party standpoint until they reflect on it or have a realization on their way to their cubicle weeks later.
Another possibility is that if someone DOES identify as the chump then all they need to do to release themselves this uncomfortable identity is to start doing things they care about or enjoy.

But they
won't, though. If they were capable of doing so they'd have done it already. Normalicy and under-the-radar behavior are deemed sacred in common society, and as soon as you call someone out, they scramble back into hiding like a roach in sunlight. The only way to force someone's eyes open is if you monitor them and keep on them, and keep on them, and keep on them. Otherwise they'll allow themselves to forget the incident ever happened and continue along with their cublicle job.
I think that's overly general. Sure, some people aren't going to want to make waves. While others will. Yet, others may start to explore different ideas, and different ways to think about things. Like a seed was planted. Besides, the goal isn't overnight revolution. Things have to happen in steps. Pieces like the OP offer a first step. People can take it or not. But if you don't draw attention to the stairwell, they'll never know its there.
Well, I can't argue with that.
There is no "one best approach"
you'll get some people being inviting and friendly
you'll get some people being harsh and confrontational
if you ask me, the "best approach" is a full-spectrum attack. I've put up hundreds of flyers this year. Most of them are nice, light, and funny. Some of them are rude, callous, heavy, or challenging. My motion is to approach from all angles, rather than just hoping I'm hitting the pedestrian's one psychic weak spot.

The kind that can handle a little confrontation from time to time.
Hell since most rants are printed out and posted someplace for people to stumble upon and read using them in that fashion seems a little more passive aggressive then confrontational.
Yeah, but if you've got a flyer that says (and I'm not saying this one does) "Hey Asshole! This is for you!", it doesn't matter how genius and correct it is, no one's gonna take it srsly.
Unless it upsets them, in which case they become emotionally involved.
Maybe, but then there's a chance they'll consider the views expressed to be erroneous on the illogical grounds that someone mean said it.
Anyone who thinks someone whos being mean cant be someone who is right isnt worth our time anyways.
