For you newer cats, you might have to make a request because I probably won't remember you. Also, yes I will be mostly using youtube links. If you can't view it for some reason I'll try to find an alternate source for you.

Primordial are a band from Ireland, and their last album, "To The Nameless Dead" has a lot of political-type content that I think you would enjoy. Or at least, some of the themes remind me of things you've talked about in the past.

I have no idea of what they are singing, it's all in Finnish, but I think it's something about drinking, because that seems to be what most of their songs are about.

Fuck YES to the first one. That sort of music is just what the doctor ordered, in fact, its the sort of thing I've been listening to more and more these days (but completely instrumental). Awesome. The second one is death metal, really not into the vocals in death metal but I REALLY appreciate the instrumental work, with that fast pumping base drum in the back ground. The heavier and harder the better. And the guitar IS sweet. Again, much the sort of thing I've been listening to these days.

I believe it's a vocoder, at least, that's what they used on the album.
A little trivia about Souls at Zero, they were formally known as Wrathchild America. Their music wasn't selling very well, so they decided to cut their hair, and change their name, which fooled no one. Now, their drummer is the drummer for Godsmack.

Please don't anyone take any offense to any of the songs I posted. None of them are intended to be swipes. With some of you that I don't know as well I had to do some post archaeology and even then I may have been drawing blanks and essentially throwing spaghetti against the wall.
I like mine, sortof. Not really a metal fan.
Hmm, what kind of music do you normally listen too? Perhaps it will allow me to refine the process to get you a more suitable match. :)

Woah. The lyrics of those songs are pretty damned cool:
QuoteThe Game
The two of us, so young and so wild
We can't find the cure to what has led us astray
Far apart from what we once were
and we both made a choice there's no turning back from here
There's no turning back from here
But we have no aim, just keeping up the pace
Who's the best of us, who's the stronger one
Will it ever end?
This escalating game
We're reborn to live on the edge
Who's the bravest of us?
Who will live to tell?
I'm so scared of what we've become
As we double the bets, the proportions exceed ourselves
The proportions exceed our sanity
We have gone from meek to brave
And we're chasing a dream that never will come true
Letting go of all our fears
The unavoidable end is the enemy we defy
But we have no aim, just keeping up the pace
Who's the best of us, who's the stronger one
Will it ever end?
This escalating game
There can be only one
QuoteI Return
Day and night just come and go
I hate that life is so deceiving
I feel this urge to turn away
From all the sadness and grieving
I find my way back to the place where we parted
All I hear is my heart pounding inside
I'm so afraid of what I'll see when I return
There's a part of me that needs to say goodbye
Until we meet again
Now and then he reappears
In my dreams
In my illusions
Pointing out the chosen path
It feels so real
Am I really dreaming?
Soon I'll see what time has done to my creation
Hell on Earth is just a few steps away
The Sun is hiding
I am in the heart of darkness
I'm closing in on the godforsaken tree
The moment I defy the pain
Is here again, in another way
All the fear in my life
Is erased from my soul
I never knew that my fantasies
Could be oh so close to reality
And what I see here right now
Is so hard to believe
I see the rope, my friend is gone
His body's nowhere to be found
I hear him whisper in the wind
I hear him calling out my name
Am I going insane?
The moment I defy the fear
Is here again, I can feel he's near
All the fear in my life
Have returned to my soul
I never knew that my fantasies
Could be oh so close to reality
And what I'm hearing right now
Is so hard to believe
Thanks!
Dan Swano is one of those guys with a million bands, kind of like Phil Anselmo, Mike Patton, Devin Townsend, etc.

He's quite the busy guy.
Hey, Rev.

From the album Heartwork. Easily one of the best metal albums of the 90s. If not THE best.
Thankya!

I definitely liked the chuggy-ness, as well as the minimalist guitar solo, though I was hoping for something along the speedier end of the genre. Out of curiosity, what lead you to this selection?
A magician never reveals how he performs his tricks. But honestly, I don't really know. It just seemed appropriate somehow. Maybe it was acid reflux.

Fair enough. Though, what about Penn & Teller?
