Title: Did you know that
Post by: The Good Reverend Roger on October 26, 2009, 08:01:55 PM
They have braille on the keys at the drive up ATM?

True story.

TGRR,
Can't take much more of this.

I discovered that over a decade ago and thought it was hilarious.  It's part of the Disabilities Act.

You Euros have no appreciation for the American way of life.  We like our cars.  Our SUVs.  Our Rascalâ„¢ scooters to get our enormous asses to the bank and then WalMart to buy more...

I'm not crying.  It's allergy season, here in the desert.

I wonder what the braille signs say at the ATM (or all of the other random spots they show up. As if the blind have some kind of spider-sense telling them where all these random signs are. "Wait, Jimmy. I think there's a sign over here!).

"If you can read this, you're trying too hard."

I'd personally guess that it's because these touchpads are all supposed to look the same, so people can tell if they are being skimmed, and that it just costs more to order separate pads without braille bumps, than just to have the same pads on every ATM?

... but that would be the boring explanation.

To up for the boring, I will give you the extra retarded explanation, and that is, that obviously, this is meant if you go through a drive thru ATM, and you have a blind passenger that wants to withdraw, amirite?

I hate to be the boring stupid person with blind friends, but yeah, it's because blind people use ATMs, and it's cheaper to just make all the keypads blind-friendly than make some with braille and some without. And it has happened, upon an occasion, where the braille ATM drive-through has come in handy. On the way to the strip club, if you can believe it.

No, a place where you can touch the dancers.

Legally?  No.

I'm assuming your knowledge of strip clubs is... limited.

Gratefully so.  Yes.  :D

And bordellos are legal in some parts of the US--Nevada comes to mind.

A blind girl. And yeah, a bunch of us just wanted to hang out and drink some beer, so we went to Mary's Club. Also it adjoins a pretty decent taqueria.

We don't have those in Oregon: OLCC rules. The dancers can touch each other but customers cannot touch dancers.

Well, in the non-legal-prostitution states, depending on the "Classiness-to-Sleaze" ratio, dancers are either:

-Always on the stage,
-Mingling with the crowd, but a few feet away,
-Rubbing on the customer (but not vice-versa),
-Allowing the customer to touch them,

or some combination, depending on the size of the billfold.

For private dances, while legally there is no sex, the rules are set (and often broken) by the dancer, and the amount of money offered.

Also, I see that Nigel just answered the question for us.

Just as I figured!  :D  I know a lot of people who actually go for the drinks and the music, not the b00bs.  *shrug*  Esp in Vegas.  Women get in free and get 3 free drinks or some shit like that.  *shrug again*  It's just never been offered to me to go.  I'd probably not, unless I was already, ahem, "in the partying mode."

I know quite a few who go to the clubs around So Cal---in fact, my cousin knows a bunch of dancers who now work at Costco.  (they ain't all THAT and a bag of chips, so I'm thinking they went "clean" after having kids or something)  I just don't have the experience myself and have been told it's no-touch or your ass is out.

Portland has an absolute fuckton of strip clubs, and most people kind of treat them like regular bars.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that Portland has the highest density of strip clubs in the US (suck it Vegas!). One of my uncles who lives down there can give directions anywhere in Portland using only strip clubs as markers.

Yes. If I remember correctly, Portland is #1 for the following, per capita:

Strip clubs
Sex stores
Restaurants
Bank robberies.
