I... Fuck, I got nothing, dude, that's sweet...
It will eat your rat.
That is AWESOME. You should buy it.
Needs more .50 caliber turrets.
Dude, $340/month slip fees with two months free with a year lease? You cannot live cheaper than that! Even if you financed it your combined monthly total would be under a grand.
Shit, I could borrow that much privately. And yeah, that's $3400 a year for slip rent and all the shit that comes with it. That thing is SICK. The only thing I'm unclear about is...it clearly no longer has a mast or sails, and yet the specs say it only has a 20 gallon diesel tank? That would only last you about 8-12 hours at a stretch, depending on wind/tide/current, so the part where they call it "voyage-ready" seems a little off, unless they're talking about a voyage to Cascade Locks and back.
ETA: or it's a typo and it actually holds 200 gallons of diesel fuel, which would make alot more sense.
BUY IT

It probably only has a 20 gallon tank. The one picture still had the mast, where the second didn't making me think it's removal is rather recent change. It didn't say the tank was new, so I'm again thinking it's what was there when the boat could still sail. Would you not replace the mast and get new sails if you got it?

Yeah, I bet it's 200... 20 makes no sense at all.
I can't see the page, because of the nannywall.
But the link has the word "boa" in it, so ECH has to be careful for his rat's sake.

My wife and I are selling our 40' custom, three level catamaran that has been completely remodeled into a voyage-ready floating penthouse. Features include a walk-in closet, master stateroom and wheel house, guest bedroom, carpeted living room with built in TV stand, deep basin sink with granite counters adjacent a full-size gas range and oven, combo washer/dryer, 2500W inverter powering aircraft grade electrical system, gps/depth/marine radio, lots of storage, and much more. We have also done many upgrades to the plumbing and the Yanmar diesel engine. This boat used to house a family of four, and my wife and I have been amazed at the quality of life that we have been able to create on the water. We have more ammenities on board than we ever had in our apartments on land.
I have pages of pictures, vessle documentation/stats, and stories to tell, but our hope is to have people come visit us so they can see for themselves all of the things that are impossible to convey through the web. My wife and I have a growing family, which means growing expenses, so we are motivated to sell. You can't get a boat for much cheaper than this, but bring a reasonable offer/partial trade and lets see what we can do to get you living on the water this summer.
I will start to post answers to questions below this line as they come up.
LOA: 39.5'
Beam: 15'
Draw: 3' but could be reduced to less than a foot with kickup rudders
Sail: Originally a twin masted design, no longer have the sails or hardwear
Slip fees: $340 per month, 2 months free with a year lease - transferable
Slip ammenities: Free ice, showers, wifi, water. State of the art, check it out at www.salparemarina.com
Fuel: 20 gallons diesel
Water: Two 25 gallon freshwater tanks
Holding: Macerating toilet to 50 gallon tank
Thank you for looking.

I wouldn't sail that thing in blue water with the current configuration of the superstructure. The steerage is not going to respond the way that hull was designed for it to in a bad blow. Makes much more sense as a motor yacht the way it's set up now. Wouldn't be a big deal to throw a Detroit Diesel and a bigger tank in there and make it a twin-screw. It would actually be really sick with that set-up, because you'd have the stability of a cat hull in open water, but it would be super maneuverable with a twin-screw drive and with the shallow draft you'd also have a 40-foot liveaboard that could anchor within wading distance of the nearest beach bar.

dont you like how you asked us to convince you NOT to buy and everyone is doing the opposite
Do you know anyone who surveys sailboats? I'd really recomend that. (Dad sails, spent the weekend helping him run down electrical problems. :x )
The tank size for something primarily designed to sail is about right. Although it LOOKS like a motor/sail configuration though. Odd.

ECH: Just think how much cleaning that thing will take. Not to mention the rat.

My biggest sticking point is that I don't really want to live on the river in North Portland. That's why I'm so interested in its long-voyage capabilities.
Because I would park the
fuck out of that thing in White Bay on Jost Van Dyk, right in front of Foxy's.

Perfect.
The lines and absence of designer's name make me think it was either self-made / small builder, plywood cored fiberglass. Depending how "vintage", previous use, and how well maintained, that could be a problem.
Well, the superstructure is clearly an aftermarket addition. I would never buy a boat without knowing the composition and origin of the hull no matter what.
brings up another interesting point, though, which is that with the added superstructure on the stern, that thing would be just about the ugliest boat in the world as a sailboat. Its current lines DEMAND that it be motorized.
If you buy that boat, you'll _______ your _______ till it _______ and the U.N. has to _______ until it's a smear. ________ and ________ will appear on network news declaiming your ______ actions as hideously innappropriate.
Also, your penis will fall off.

BUY IT!
I'm gonna go check it out sometime this week. I've decided that I won't borrow money to buy it, but if it's still for sale in 6 months or so after I've had a few trips out to sea to pad my bank account I might not be able to resist.

Pfft. This kind of thing needs to be an impulse buy. You'll get no enjoyment out of it if you carefully manage your finances. :argh!:

Right? Only if Kevin Costner had a full kitchen and a master suite. See that little girl? On my ship, she'll be replaced by a beach volleyball team.
You'd have to get into the spirit of the thing, find some people riding jetskis and FUCK their shit UP. Also, urine filter.
Actually, I'd much rather be Dennis Hopper than Kevin Costner.
Smokers FTW!
