My heart bleeds purple piss.
For some reason...this does not effect me one bit.
So long and thanks for all the fish.
ED was already suffering a slow death anyways.
The advertisers got pissy about the lolcow articles and racist articles.
So ED started going down the road of self censorship. The plan was for it to focus more on 4chan and memes,
basically it would become know-your-meme with bad words.
I just hope someone saved most of those pages. Years and years of documented Internet drama could be lost.

Im serious. This is like the Smithsonian burning down.
Um. :lulz:
I can safely say I never visited that site so I don't get all of the hub-bub, bub.

There goes a lot of Pineal Discordian Nonsense (there were reams and reams about Uncle BadTouch's group buried in there).

If the Smithsonian's front entrance facade was a giant statue of goat.se that you had to walk into to get in the building, and the place itself was full of the best (worst?) of Daily Rotten, unfunny, forced /b/ memes, then yeah, I'd agree with you.
Otherwise, I don't see how anyone could possibly compare the two.

Well in that case, good riddance. Someone hand me a shovel and I'll help bury the corpse.
I, for one, am glad that no man ever has to whisper to prospective dates "erectile dysfunction" ever again.
Though I suppose the viagra industry may now need a stimulus package.
I was under the impression that Viagra is a stimulus package.

It's certainly a stimulus
for your package.
The "your" here is clearly not directed at you Alphapance.

Im not talking about that dumb shit. Im talking about all the drama. All the furries, all the "ORIGINAL CHARACTER DO NOT STEAL" people, all the Real Doll people. Some of the worst examples of humanity were on that site and now its all gone.

OH, the funny stuff. yeah, alright. But it's the internet. Once it's on here, it's here forever. There's probably already a group of basement dwellers somewhere recompiling it all into a new wiki as we type.
Hell, most of the good stuff is probably in your own cache files, assuming you don't delete them regularly.
Some page on that site tried to give me a trojan once. Never went back. I wont miss it, but I can see the value in some of the really funny examples of people being fucking stupid.
ED died. That shit was so cash

I agree but I'd liken it more to the demise of Geocities. In the sense that 99% of it was utter crap, but it's still quite a significant cultural artifact.
Geocities probably moreso than ED, but still.
Also I never like it when information just gets lost.

Holy shit Geocities is dead?
Fuck, the entire internet is falling apart around me.
I'm still giggling about the documenting Internet drama/Smithsonian thing.
Glittersnatch, you made my day.
