Title: Dream Logic
Post by: Q. G. Pennyworth on January 19, 2012, 12:36:17 PM
You know how sometimes when you're in the middle of a dream you get this sudden flash of insight into what's going on and why everything around you is behaving the way it is, and sometimes it's completely relevant to your waking life and completely changes how you see the world? This was not one of those.

"Oh! Of course the giant dogs hate me, because I'm dead!"

It frustrates the fuck out if me when I have a super intence vivid dream that would be a great story... Oh hey, that doesn't really make strong logical sense...

I often have situations saturated in emotion that isn't always normal to associate with the situation, which is challenging to express.

Ive documented some of my weirder dreams here (should get back to that actually). If you need some time to kill try hunting down the "half asleep" which is i think in or kill me.

I always get a kick out of them. I think one of my favorites was when i ended up in nazi germany and started messing with hitler.

I had another one years before i even came here where for some reason i decided to set off a nuke in downtown boston and then thought to myself that maybe that wasnt the best idea i ever had and spent the rest of the dream running from the fallout.

I still maintain that my elephant dream (http://www.principiadiscordia.com/forum/index.php/topic,14214.msg453325.html#msg453325) would make a most excellent movie. It's got everything; action, mystery, suspense, love interest, pathos...

When I was in college, I woke up one morning convinced of a critical flaw in relativity, that if looked at properly, would allow faster than light travel.  It was so fucking obvious, I couldn't believe that nobody else had spotted it.  I wrote it down, and went back to sleep.

When I woke up, I grabbed the paper and read "Superglue raisins together".

Very stupid question, but can emotions from dreams influence your waking consciousness state?

For me yes. Dunno how often, cos I mostly don't remember my dreams but I have on occasion had awesome dreams that I did remember and they left me buzzing for most of the day when I woke up. Never had one that put me on a downer before but I wouldn't rule out the possibility.

I have one reoccurring dream:
I'm sitting in a chair with a room full of loved ones telling me about their dreams. They list every excrutiating detail with emphasis on this aspect or that aspect to show me how important it was when the rainbow elephant peed on their face ans then they were in the desert being chased by large cats, they want me to know how CRITICAL this infotmation is. Straps hold me in place except for one hand holding a gun, but everytime i raise to my head to blow my brains out it just clicks. Then i wake up covered in sweat and my own filth screaming like a banshee.

What do you think it means?

Actually, the urge to post a reply to someone's dreams thread was what pushed me from just lurking and reading to actually registering to post.

I don't know, sometimes reading about people's dreams is interesting. I like the disconnectedness of it. You don't have to like it of course, but IMO it's not the worst kind of fluff. Mostly because it takes quite a bit of effort to retell a dream.

When I was little I had a nightmare that my teddy bear was killed by a doppelganger who then took his place. For a week or so I was terrified that if I let on that I knew he would kill me too.

I've had dreams that made me angry at my roommates when I woke up, thing is though the dream was rather plausible, something about my roommate eating my food, or some such. It wasn't until I look in the fridge that I'm sure that it was a dream or not.

I dunno....I would literally find the details of someone's morning poop more interesting than the details of the dream they had before they woke up and pooped.

I mean, it's just brain detritus. It's like listening ot someone talk about their acid trip, only without even the possibility of a part where they got inappropriately naked in public.

How synchronicitous....

I just had a dream that your face fell off while stalking rhinos at the zoo and Pent performed an emergency transplant with an elephant scrotum, so when it got too cold out your head got sucked into your neck.

Had a dream that we were all at a meet up and cram wanted to cover us all in velcro so we could literally stick together. We agreed to it even though we all agreed from that point that cram was probably one of the weirdest fuckers any of us would ever meet.

A few years ago, I had this dream that all the people from The Celtic Connection forum decided to have a real-life get together, meeting for the first time. They rented out this camp ground and threw a pagan festival.

I was watching everybody talk, listening to their inane chatter.

This older guy tracked me down, started to talk to me. I recognized him - it was fire song, one of the admins at TCC. He said I looked familiar. I told him who I was and he got this look of disappointment on his face. He was just so deeply disappointed because I had found my way into their secret dream party.

To this day, I still wonder if he was scrying me or something.

You have no imagine how awesome things would be if everybody just did everything I asked without any hesitation.

The velcro is step 1.

I hope the dream ended with everyone being eaten by pterodactyls.

If not maybe that is why he was disappointed?

A recurring theme in my dreams is regardless of what the dream is actually about, eventually, I end up being chased and when I try to run, I end up taking slowww leaps like walking on the moon. I push off to run, bounce uuuuuup and dowwwwwn. The chaser, of course, is catching up.

When I was a more tender age I had a recurring dream that a spider was chasing me around my grandmother's house and every time I tried to kill it it just got back up and got BIGGER. Pretty sure that one was symbolic of the mormon church I was raised in. :x

More recently I had a dream within a dream, it was like advertisement for a new MMORPG except I was being flown around a sunken city with rainbow colored buildings by a host avatar who was trying to explain to me, "Everyone may build up their character however they like but on 12/21/2012, we will all blow them up with grenades." And then I woke up in an illegal restaurant, frantic because I had just gotten hired and had already fallen asleep on the job! We were so busy, too. And then I actually woke up and was all :aaa:
