Title: Okay, totally not kidding this time: Pics of TGRR shirtless.
Post by: The Good Reverend Roger on February 02, 2012, 02:12:56 AM
What kind of sick fuck are you?  I look like a mop on legs.  IT'S ALL HAIR.  Do you have some strange fetish?

This is a family board.  Go look at pron or something (not you, Twid).

What kind of sick fuck am I?

Well, the kind that would hang out with YOU, regardless of what you are or aren't wearing.

I'm likely going to avoid pron for a while. Now I'm afraid I'll see someone else I know on there.

Do you think I WANT to see you topless!? God No!

But this thread is like telling me not to touch those wires because they are high voltage. Fuck that, I'm not going to take your word for it, and since I don't have a multimeter on me...

I should probably not alert you to the existence of www.isanyoneup.com

Especially since they post alot of naked pics of people in bands. :lulz:

Seriously, though. Don't go to that site. It's horribly unethical and I'm probably a terrible person for enjoying it.

Heh, yeah, not clicking it.

Unethical because pics were snagged?

Unethical because pics were snagged?

Even worse, they're usually sent in by jilted lovers, angry exes, or girls who are sick of creepy band dudes sending them dick pics on their cellphones.

Even worse than THAT, is that probably about 25% of them (50% in the case of band members) are self-submitted in a desperate bid for attention and/or scene relevance. Or because if you self-submit you get a cool t-shirt.

If that's not enough, sometimes the site posts a bounty on a particular person, with free swag given out to whoever is first to collect and submit naked pics of that person.

But, in an effort to reduce their karmic debt, they do give the occasional HERP ALERT, which has probably saved countless hordes of scene-queen starfuckers from an itchy burning fate.

Speaking of that, since you're from from Boston, they recently called out Sammy Adams for having herpes. Which is doubly funny since the guy who produces alot of his stuff (Matty Trump) is an old friend of mine from Maine and I can think of at least a half-dozen of my friends who have gone down to Boston to party with Matty and ended up sleeping with Sammy. Oops!

But you should have known that already, since I was the first one to jump in here looking for TGRR pron. :lulz:

I figured that there wouldn't actually be any, since there never is.

I will be deeply horrified when I end up comfortable in the knowledge that it will never be put up here, click the new TGRR shirtless thread, and see exactly what was advertised in the title.

Also, I had never heard of Sammy Adams before. But looking him up I hate him since he is successful and younger than me.

On the other hand, everyone in the world doesn't know you have herpes, so you've got one up on him there.

(note: whether or not you actually have herpes or not is irrelevant. As long as nobody else knows, a little coverup will keep the good times rolling.)

I can definitely say that I do not have any STDs. A good portion of my partners were first timers (didn't seek that out, just happened). The only one who wasn't was a long term ex and we were both no glove no love types. Also, I've never had one of those "What the fuck is that?!?!" moments.

Nope, no interesting diseases here other than having a genetic proclivity towards cancer.

Twid
potential cause of death is genetic.

Good music gets you nowhere.

That's why you and I play at the Cantab and not at the Paradise.

Bad music, though, gets you all kinds of places.  I don't mean "poor music", I mean Hank Sr and Tom Waits and Nina Simone.

Fair point.

Boston scene sucks though. Almost always the only people in the audience are your friends, the other bands, their friends, and that one creepy guy, and often, an MIA soundguy. Shows in Boston are basically like low key parties in a bar. Every so often you snag a new listener, but they're usually there for another band, and you almost never get a random person who felt like getting a beer and seeing who was playing at their watering hole.

You lucky bastards.

The scene HERE means "A Kenny Loggins tribute band, whose show is attended by the bar's usual barflies, and the wives/GFs of the band, who drink a lot of booze and look embarrassed the whole time."

You will note there is no mention of a sound guy in there, as it turns out you can get mind-shattering feedback without one, and that seems to be the desired result.

That is significantly worse, but I still want to play out in front of a bunch of total strangers and have them check us out after the show.

No you don't.  You get in at 6, show starts at 9, stagger upstairs to your room at 2 (if you were smart enough to rent one), or get home by whatever means by 3:30.

It's just that the Hotel Congress PAYS their bands - and pays them well - so you get really, really good music, and the place fills up FAST.

Oh hey, that was my last Friday. And as an audience member, that made for a really fun time*. But, I can see how as a band trying to get your name out there, it's not so much fun if those are the ONLY people showing up.

*As long as you don't mind spending twice the amount on alcohol as you would at home at the bar, and you call THOSE appetizers?? For HOW much money? $4 for a crappy bottle of water? Can't I just have some out of the tap like a normal person? And that's why I don't like to go into Boston

I first heard about him when I saw him on Conan.  Is that supposed to be good music?  Because it's really not.

Yep. I mean it's fun and all and you get to hang out with a lot of cool people and entertain them. But you get paid based on the amount of people who come and sometimes you get 30 people who don't end up coming for various reasons all at the same time. A good reason often is that they see us frequently. And I get that. I love Iron Maiden, but if they were a local band and I got to see them at least once every two months, I probably would be inclined to miss a show here or there. It would be great if people just went out to clubs just because, but that doesn't really happen in Boston. You always go out for a specific reason. To see your friend's band at the Cantab, or to see that touring act that's playing at the Middle East or some other equivalent venue.

I'm thinking of starting up a side project with the understanding that I'm going to play all over the Northeast and just eat the costs. Do 8 shows a year or something and hit up NYC, Western MA, NH, RI, CT and PA while I'm at it. Then I can just look at it like, "I'm visiting this place, and I also just happen to be playing a gig there." Anarchangel's kinda got the policy that if we can't break even or at least make a small profit, we're not taking the gig if it's outside of Greater Boston. Which I understand, but also limits us.

potential cause of death is genetic.

I read that as, "potential cause of death is garlic".

Time for coffee.

Also, I had never heard of Sammy Adams before. But looking him up I hate him since he is successful and younger than me.

I first heard about him when I saw him on Conan.  Is that supposed to be good music?  Because it's really not.

Oh, it's terrible. He's like Asher Roth with .01% more flow.

But he helped my good friend make a name for himself and now he (Matty Trump, not Sammy Adams) is in LA running Brainchild Productions and selling sick beats to all kinds of sick rappers. So AFAIC, yay for Sammy Adams.

Twid, you guys should play Portland (Maine, not PDX). It's got several killer venues and if you bring it and bring it hard, the people there will dig it and respond appropriately.
