Because that's Chris Morris and that's his exit from the series. The episodes after were still hilarious, but they would've been more so with Chris Morris in it.

And Chris Morris did a whole bunch of awesome stuff such as the gush (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_mOf4kJ7dE) (short audio sketch, NSFW, probably) and Paedogheddon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLyLGrbKokI) (brilliant 27min satire special). His role in IT Crowd was also has a strong absurdist bend.

That's probably the best exit ever.
