Thanks. You know I feel better about this, we talked about it last night, remember?  :p
Yes, I know.  But I know you're still not on exactly comfy ground in the situation.

Yeah buddy, talk about something your fundamentalists would make signs about.
Except I play it around my fundamentalist Mother sometimes, she doesn't even understand what they're saying I think.

In my experience the children of rich people don't understand money, in a huge profound way. They REALLY don't get it. It might be really hard for her to comprehend the whole "work to earn money to barely get by" concept.
Echo'd.

Out of curiosity, does she have any plans for what she's doing if the money goes away?  Or if her parents are older then what she'll do after they're no longer around?

I have great hopes for you and her, especially since you FINALLY let go of she who shall not be named.  From as little of her as I've seen she seems like someone you could be really happy with, and I know how much you dig spending time with her.  From as much time as you guys spend together, I can't see how she wouldn't be with you.  She may already be in heart, but you know how that is.  If things continue as is, I can definitely see her dropping her dude and you guys start to work stuff for the better.

If only if only I could feel the same about my situation.

I'm sorry to hear that, and I wish it could be different for you.  My Christmas's are just about everything I could wish for, just getting together with people I enjoy and all that jazz.  There are presents involved yes, but nothing overly expensive.  Presents aren't even important; seeing my family is the best and most enjoyable part.  I wish everyone could have something like that to look forward to at this time of the year, instead of dread.

As everyone else has stated, your girlfriend needs a serious talking to.  She obviously doesn't understand the shitty feeling of not having enough money for something, and needs to do her part to understand your problems with the way she wants you to spend Christmas.  You've obviously done a shit ton to be with this girl and for her after that, so it's definitely reasonable that you draw the line.

Well, it's a good thing you're better than those...wiggers.
I hate using that term but I don't know another that fits. :/

Suburban gangstas? Subangstas? I mean, you don't have to be white to do what you're talking about, and it's more a matter of middle-class kids pretending like they came from the ghetto than white people trying to be "black". If I wanted to act like I was "black", I'd go all-out blaxploitation like this cat:

There is an awesome dude who  looks like a buck-toothed Prince, who just opened a sweet motherfucking store in my neighborhood selling some tight pimp-ass style. On the cheap, too. I love him.
On the CHEAP, CHEAP?  LEMME FIND OUT.

I do not think you live in my neighborhood.
...I was making a ghetto joke.

I've never actually done Amtgard but I've been told by everyone it's much less fighting and much more roleplay than Dagorhir/Belegarth.  You don't actually fight, it's more like tag.

So, like kids playing guns, only with barbies included?
Uhm, I don't see how you could think of it that way but if it makes sense to you, sure.

Well, it's make believe without either rolling dice1 or thumping people with shit (thumping people with shit is an excuse for anything).

1  Pen & paper is the only acceptable form of roleplaying according the 2008 Tucson Synod, and Tucson is the Holy City™ of Eris.
From what I've been explained, yes.  You also have levels, and can use things you throw as magic missiles.
I don't quite see where the guns and barbies fit in though.

Is it to do with the big A?

Check the date, Death. That was Wednesday night. I'll tell you what it was about next time I see you in person.

It is their lack of mass and ridiculous handling characteristics. I have taken flack for having trained with shinai and wasters from people who use steel. I have given flack to guys who use nylon wasters for training. I approach armed combat as a martial art. Your concept safety is meaningless. I've trained with steel and prefer it to wood or shinai.

we are on the same side here, your point is exactly mine. New tech and ultra lights are shit and technically don't follow the rules as it states weapons should be close to real weapon weight.

The weapon I use is thick wall PVC with a pipe insulator, wrapped in blue camp foam, it has smaller faucet PVC inside keeping a 2lb lead weight at the end for counter balance at the hilt. It weights about 10lbs, is 50" long and the main striking part is 2.75" in diameter. Due to the counterweight, it is balanced 1 inch to the handguard (edited here wrong term).

The friend who brought me into amtgard had never seen a setup like it in the 12 years he had been playing. He thought it was a great idea. He prefer ed the 10 foot sewage PVC with pillows and couch foam on it, but that is ancient

And WTF do you mean by your comment on cleaning a gun and having it accidentally going off? If you are cleaning a loaded weapon you are a fucking retard. You always, always, ALWAYS clear a weapon when you are first handed it, before handing it off to someone else or before cleaning it. ALWAYS.

The gun thing was meant as a joke... actually it's probably more likely to be nailed by lighting then shot while cleaning a gun.
I've never actually done Amtgard but I've been told by everyone it's much less fighting and much more roleplay than Dagorhir/Belegarth.  You don't actually fight, it's more like tag.  But I guess that depends on how your group does it.

Siiigh.  I've got some weird memories in Peoria.
Did you know a girl called Emma Smith?
Even being pretty generic, I don't know anyone with that name.
Peoria is about 3 hours north and I used to go up there a lot for my wrestling tournaments.
