So i have this possibly/probably-abandoned novel (for nanowrimo) but one of the characters used to work for an extraterrestial/paranormal investigation agency in Arizona (but since then moved to another branch of the same organization, someplace unnamed that is actually in the midwest...someplace i actually know something about.)
I haven't been to Arizona, so i was wondering if anyone who lives/has lived there has any ideas about what such a hypothetical organization might encounter there.
thanks.

Bring and Brag / from a Rob Brezsny prompt...
April 01, 2010, 10:22:04 PM
from Rob Brezsny's book Pronoia is the Antidote to Paranoia :
"Make up a dream in which you violate a big taboo without hurting anyone."

my made-up dream:
"I was walking in the woods, in late spring or early summer, on a nice day, and i came to a clearing where i saw a bunch of my friends, and also Robert Anton Wilson, and also Alex from the movie 'A Clockwork Orange.'  And one of my friends there was Michael, whom i fancy.  He was wearing a wig of black feathers, and he and Alex were discussing something, i think it was marinara sauce.  And suddenly i put my hand on Michael's arm, and he stoppd talking and looked at me. And then i kissed him on the lips, quickly.  He stared at me, startled, but then he threw his arms around me and kissed me right back.  And a shaft of sunlight beamed down into his head and filled his whole body with sunlight--golden--and then the light entered me, from his mouth to mine, and filled me too.  R.A. Wilson picked a leaf off the tree, rolled it into a joint, and started smoking it.  He offered it to Michael and me, but we were high enough already.  He then offered it to Alex, but ALex said he would prefer it in milk, so he and Wilson wandered off to find a cow."

Yeah, i know it's incredibly silly.

and the bit on p. 26 about  when the power goes out.

Principia Discussion / "Telemachus" question
December 23, 2008, 12:47:21 AM
so the fictional Telemachus Sneezed novel in Illuminatus...i'm not quite getting the title.  I looked up Telemachus and i'm not sure how him sneezing would be significant like Atlas shrugging....or Satan repenting...i get those two, but not Telemachus.
...or maybe it's just funny or absurd?

Literate Chaotic / Duck for President
February 17, 2008, 12:40:33 AM
http://www.amazon.com/President-Times-Illustrated-Books-Awards/dp/0689863772

I saw this at a bookstore lately.  Not surprisingly, it's a kids' book, but sometimes those have value for adults too.  I looked at it, didn't read the whole thing, but even what i did read managed to remind me of both Animal Farm* and the Illuminatus! Trilogy.**

*Because Duck got his start in politics running against and defeating the farmer in "Farm Elections" on his farm.
**Because it seemed every time Duck won an office and got down to business, he decided it wasn't that fun and went on to something else, and that sorta (a little bit) reminded me of that guy in Illuminatus! who took over Fernando Poo and then wondered how to go about running a country.
