TESTEMONAIL:  Right and Discordianism allows room for personal interpretation. You have your theories and I have mine. Unlike Christianity, Discordia allows room for ideas and opinions, and mine is well-informed and based on ancient philosophy and theology, so, my neo-Discordian friends, open your minds to my interpretation and I will open my mind to yours. That's fair enough, right? Just claiming to be discordian should mean that your mind is open and willing to learn and share ideas. You guys are fucking bashing me and your laughing at my theologies and my friends know what's up and are laughing at you and honestly this is my last shot at putting a label on my belief structure and your making me lose all hope of ever finding a ideological group I can relate to because you don't even know what the fuck I'm talking about and everything I have said is based on the founding principals of real Discordianism. Expand your mind.

Dear people.

The Financial Aid Advisor has arrived.

You are AUTOMATICALLY CONSIDERED INDEPENDENT OF YOUR FAMILY AT AGE 23 PER THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S GUIDELINES WHILE APPLYING FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. NOT 25, 23.

Yes, you CAN prove that you are financial independent prior to that as well as long as you have the tax documents to do so, and that's not that difficult unless you have an FAO that doesn't know their ass from their elbows. All you need to do is fill out the Independent Student Enrollment Verification Worksheet and submit that with your 1040 and you're set. Done. Securing independent aid while you're still living at home isn't going to be as easy, but yes, it can be done.

You actually get MORE aid as an independent than a dependent, but if you're 19 and still live at home, it's not going to happen. Not as long as your parents have the income to support the EFC (estimated family contribution) or you don't work. Even if you DO work...the chance is slim. So don't try to cheat the system.

Yay, Suu arrives with the Word!

Also, like I mentioned before, if your family is supporting your lazy ass,  THEY ARE GIVING YOU MONEY. What is that, like $20,000/year they're saving you, that you would otherwise have to work for? So shut your stupid fucking entitled privileged ass, PH, and be grateful for a split second. You fucking dick.

How many people at 18 can actually afford to do that, *and* go to college with financial aid that covers maybe 20% of the cost of a degree?

I would fucking KILL to be able to still live at home with my parents, eating home cooked meals and not having to worry about the cost of living on my own, and I'm almost 30. Just sayin'. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth, because you'll be missing them terribly when they're gone.

Presuming you're still here, reading, and haven't been run off, this is your clue to throw yourself on Suu's mercy (it's a small target, and there are spiky bits around it, be careful) and ask her what to do to get financial aid for college.

No, it's just a :headdesk: moment. She won't be back in this thread, let her go pedant up another one.

:lulz:

I think she's finally realized that people will tear her a new one when she pedanticizes about shit she's wring about, so now she's restricting herself to things that are basic and obvious, like putting antibacterials on wounds and shit.

I have posted a thread on financial aid. Live it, learn it, love it. I will answer any question that is thrown at me.

I suspect we diverge after reading this thread that I wasn't considering loans to be financial aid.

Loans are financial aid.

Actually, my money for college complaints have become irrelevant, PSAT scores qualified for nqmst scholarship + Florida bright futures scholarship, so I'm guaranteed almost completely free state college via academic merit
This is a distraction.
