They have been trying to do this for years apparently.  It always fails, but they keep trying.  I really hope it doesn't pass.  But I have a plan b now.  I've been looking into farrier schools all morning and will pursue that if this does pass, or if my career never takes off--which is possible because CA is bankrupt, and farriers are in more demand/need than body workers.

I'm not really in a position to where I am able to GTFO of CA.  I'm sure I will at some point, but right now it's not realistic because I have no money to move, horses I'd have to move, friends here that I really care about (read real friends not drama friends), and basically my whole life is here for how.  But in a few years, who knows?
It's all fun and games, till someone gets herpes.

Ugh. That is tough work and your risk for injury goes up drastically.

and my back is already fucked, but beggars can't be choosers.  It's either that or I can aspire to become someone's trophy wife...which while never having to work would be AWESOME it's not exactly living the dream now is it?

Depends on the dream, I suppose.  I'd be bored stupid.

If Luna was a furry, she'd sex humans and scream "BEASTIALITY!" at the top of her lungs at inopportune times.

I like the Luna one. She is a good one.

How about training? A 60 foot round pen would be about the same cost as buying farrier tools. Besides, the law hasn't passed yet.

LMNO

How long do the classes take? Stay in CA and get the training. When you have the knowledge (and the certificates) under your belt, you can write your own ticket, provided that the "20 in the world" status still stands.

I currently do not posses the capabilities of being a trainer.  Not only that, but I lack the show record, and working student resume required to be taken seriously in my sport.  Sure anyone can be a backyard yahoo, but I'm not one of those people.
