yeah, I know.  I just have little sympathy for people who choose to end their lives.  It's a cowards way out, and possibly the most selfish act any person can take.

There's also the possibility that he was mentally ill.  Killing yourself is by definition not normal behavior.

Even if you do it in style.

Given the specific situation I agree with Roger... this isn't offing yourself with sleeping pills and vodka or a razor and warm bath. The guy had something seriously fucked up going on in his head.

I gotta admire the guys commitment to an act.
As terrible as what he did is, it's almost monty-pythonish in the dark humour he "performed".

I mean, don't tell me you guys couldn't imagine a skit where the central character sings a jolly song apologizing vaguely for something that hasn't happened yet, and ending it with the character killing/blowing up themselves and the audience, witnessing the atrocity, at first stand around stunned and awe-struck, covered in bits of blood... a few silent seconds pass then... one person starts to slowly clap, and then, suddenly, a standing ovation follows in rhythm as the crowd regain their composure and cry "Encore! Encore!"

I'd have let it go after the first post, Lys.

Perfect horrormirth in this one, then you just started flogging the already quite dead horse.

This one however, made me laugh in that way.

Well, I did make you laugh in *that* way, so you know, two steps forward one back and such. I'll work "it" out soon, I swear.
- So the New World Order does not actually exist?
- Oh it exists, and how!
Ask the slaves whose labour built the White House;
Ask the slaves of today tied down to sweatshops and brothels to escape hunger;
Ask most women, second class citizens, in a pervasive rape culture;
Ask the non-human creatures who inhabit the planet:
whales, bears, frogs, tuna, bees, slaughtered farm animals;
Ask the natives of the Americas and Australia on whose land
you live today, on whose graves your factories, farms and neighbourhoods stand;
ask any of them this, ask them if the New World Order is true;
they'll tell you plainly: the New World Order... is you!

Pickle, you might want to consider having some sort of sympathy for people who kill themselves. No one in their right mind does that. It's a mark of extreme and unhelped mental illness.

I wouldn't say no one.  Someone with a debilitating and extremely painful physical condition could make a logical decision to terminate their life.  or someone facing some really unpleasant consequences, like that kiddy fiddling pastor that Postvex posted a link to (ETA the right poster with the pastor story.)

True, but a terminal cancer patient isn't going to go up on stage and stab themselves repeatedly. The method kind of adds weight to the idea that there was something really wrong with this guy.

And/or some serious mind altering drugs.

Right. I keep forgetting about the drugs for some reason.

I know I only stab myself after taking drugs.  sort of like only smoking after sex, or only drinking milk after eating a brownie.  You just have to have that context for it to be good.
