Now I am wracking my brain trying to think of other fun German slang.

Using the term "alter" to refer to old people is about all I can think of, and that's not so fun.

"Geil" is probably one of the only cases in which a really vulgar word is transformed into common slang.

It's like an American calling something "the sex".

It's like saying, "That's hot." In a slang way, not meaning that the item in question is actually hot in temperature. Or calling something "the tits" when it's not really in fact, tits.

Geil literally means "horny", but in more modern usage, it's coming out as something that is cool.
