My roommates LOVE the Great Gatsby. LOVE it. Last winter, they talked about it incessantly. They threw a Gatsby themed parties. They heard about ANOTHER Gatsby themed party in New Hampshire and drove there just so they could do it again. This is going to set them off into another month of chittering. And then after the movie comes out, another month of bitching about it. CHRIST.

Near as I can gather, it's a book  that will never be read by, or the lessons never heeded by the kind of people it warns against.
