Spotify just started authing accounts in US (no Canada yet, sry). It's a free music subscription service like Pandora only instead of picking a track and creating a "station" based on that track's "etymology," you can actually just listen for free to whatever you want that happens to be in the cloud on-demand.

It's got a social aspect to it so your friends who are on spotify can recommend tracks or you can peruse their lists and favourites.

It's got a local library management function that seems okay...sort of a hybrid between iTunes and WMP, it can import your iTunes playlists and whatnot but I haven't really messed with it.

Recommendation feature still in dev, it seems. I don't care so much for the "what's new," may it gets smarter the more music I listen to?

The free version (with the invite) requires you to listen to the occasional 30 sec ad...but it's cloud-storage on-demand music...for FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Just thought I should let you know that I've drunkenly fucked up my spotify good and proper in the first 5 minutes of getting it running.

A small selection of my music is now doubled and I can't find the rest of it.

But it's also the first program I've successfully run on WINE so...

Spotify does not meet my demands.

The free part is for desktop streaming only.
       1) Site blocked at work.
       2) I don't listen to my computer at home.

Mobile access is $10/Month.   :argh!:

Not worth my time.

It also doesn't really give you the HD bitrate when you buy the "high quality" subscription and about 1/4th of the time it doesn't have the song I'm looking for.

FWIW I requested an invite and they sent me one within seconds.
