That /is/ really cool. I just listened to the underwater earthquake track; it reminded me of the sound of volcanic eruption.

Holy fuck, yes.

I'm always looking for sites with hydrophone feeds.

The Kushiro OBS stations seem to be picking up minor earthquakes from California. I was checking live quake updates on another site and it matches.

Any seismology nerds in the house that can tell me what this thing is?

I'm suspecting it's part of the sensor, or at least man made. It's too consistent and happens every hour, but really I have no clue.

According to the colour coding it's either shipping or sonar.

I thought the colour coding was just amplitude. To be clear, it's from Kushiro ocean bottom seismograph 2, which is about 3.2 km deep, recording below 50Hz.

It could be shipping or sonar, but I'm still not sure. It could even be something on the land. I AM INTRIGUED.

Not listening to that.

And who will have the last laugh when you all turn into fish people?  Yeah, that's right.

Too late. Why do you think I sport a big beard? That's right, to conceal my ichthyoid features.
