Oh sure, the decline in membership and posting has nothing to do with the administration, there are no facts, black and white, right or wrong, just shades of grey. Intellectual dishonesty being par for the course around here, it is no surprise that your rant disavows any responsibility and lacks any serious thought or introspection.

Now go ahead and move this post into your comfort zone. Out of sight and out of mind.
How absolutely darling! Look at you!

Aren't you just an adorable little non-conformist?

"Hey, just wanted to stop by and not be part of the herd. Take note of the issues I have with the herd, okay?"

Too cute.

I wouldn't bother replying either, your mods with brittle egos will just move your posts and mine anyway. Even if we are discussing the topic.

Portland has a weird, creepy underbelly that isn't easily uncovered. We're all so happy here, it's so green, you see?

So green, and so clean, and so many bridges, and that big big park, and some weird fucking shit that nobody ever, ever talks about. Shit that sometimes, everybody knows about, but nobody talks about. Until finally someone won't shut the fuck up and they have to go exhume the bodies under the bridge and suddenly we know where all the street kids were disappearing to.

I really want to know about that compound, though. It was all these dilapidated shacks surrounded by an extra-tall chain-link fence that was completely covered with corrugated fiberglass sheeting so you couldn't see in. You could just get a glimpse of the shacks through the gate when it was open.

Are you talking about the one on 52nd and Duke (I think)? If you are, it's a super-creepy "campground" for some weirdo Jesus cult. I've never seen anyone going in or coming out, ever, and I drive by it fairly frequently. There's no corrugated fiberglass sheeting but there's a tall fence and the cabins definitely qualify as "dilapidated shacks".

Didn't Portland have, like a lot of Neo-Nazis, back in the day?

Still does. We call them "Officer" now.

YESSSSSS!!!

That's the place! So you can see in now? I need to get a history on that place.

I was just researching Rocky Butte (again) and... oh, just fuck me. Same with Cathedral Park. Jesus.

I think we need to take a day sometime so you can drag me to some of these places.

AFK

I dunno, I would just stop worrying about the board.  I don't think the periodical "WTF is wrong we need to to moar!" thread really does much.  In my mind, it's trying to order disorder.  Disorder that actually might be members latching on to a piece of creative disorder, but one that took them offline.  And I'm okay with that.  If less activity in cyberspace means more Discordia in meatspace, I think that is a win.

Honestly, what do the writings really do?  How many people actually make it to this spot these days and get inspired by us?  I'm sure there are some, but are there that many?  To be clear, I'm not saying we shouldn't write, that we shouldn't try to put up content.  But, I think, maybe it is time to reexamine expectations and see if maybe they need to be recalibrated a bit.

What do we think is the "point" of this board?  I mean, boards are social constructs by their nature, and I think minus the unfortunate rankor of late, the board succeeds in that respect.

I dunno, just thinking out loud here.  We're getting older, life happens.
Cynicism is a blank check for failure.

You sir, are a serious tool-bag.

You sound a little butt-hurt... I hear they make pills for that. Of course, if medication isn't your thing, you could try bipedalism... Ah, never mind, you probably wouldn't get it.

Those shades of grey are all you're ever going to get, whether at PD, or IRL. You might in life, find some truth that you can live with, one that works for you, but that doesn't mean it's an Absolute, that you can hold up and wave it around as "Black" or "White". All that will earn you is the derision of those who disagree with you.

A rant is a rant is a rant. It has no mandate to take responsibility for anything, nor is it necessary that serious thought has to be involved. That's the whole point. It's beauty is in it's spontaneity. And as for "intellectual dishonesty"?
The intellect is mankind's primary tool to dress something up in a more acceptable form. (That's not it's only function of course, but it's a legitimate one)

If that really was the objective here, then surely it would be easier all round if you were just banned? This is a Discordian forum, so understandably, the paradigm is what it is. It beats me why people don't get that. Some people get it, others don't. Some of those who don't get it, study it a little more, post a bit, then start to understand it better. Others just decide that we are a horrible bunch of cunts, and adopt an adversarial stance that immediately reinforces their erroneous observations.

And it only ever ends one way. Either you change your view to something that fits, however loosely with  the paradigm, or you get an unlimited thread where people will come and mock you, or instruct you, or ignore you, until you either start to get it, and find a niche we can all live with,  or you just fuck off, full of butthurt, and indignation.  eta; Ok, that's two ways.

Banning people is far too lazy an option unless all other avenues have been thoroughly (And very occasionally, epically) tried. It's nothing personal, it's how we are with everyone. I accept that you are only seeing us as a capricious bunch of belligerent pisstaking arseholes, (And we are so very good at that one) but we're also so much more than that. Instead of pushing the obvious buttons to see our reactions, why not take a more passive approach, and try to find something on the boards that you really resonate with? Then contribute to it.
You don't have to make any kind of splash. We are only Human, and we will watch with varying degrees of interest as you show us how long you can float for, but the pool isn't on the roof for nothing.

While I won't deny I like Fanglkai, you have no idea of our history. That is why you fail so hard when you keep trying to score points by equating me with him. By all means, continue. I know you need some excuse to abuse my contributions. Whenever I voice publicly what most every member here is probably thinking, you can point at me, the bad guy, and use my membership at Totse to discredit and silence me.
