STICK YOUR DICK IN THE APPLE.

In all honesty, I dig RAW. I think his writing is questionable but I'm a big proponent of fun as a ideological alignment. I kinda feel like Douglas Adams did Discordia better than any Discordian has done to date. This shit can't be deliberate, you know.

GWB did it even better.

As in the Clown Prince of Texas?

Yeah.

In my opinion we need more organized trolling. Nothing strengthens communal bonds like crushing your enemies, seeing them driven before you and hearing the lamentations of their women.

Plus Im still kind of pissed about how our PUA jihad sputtered out and died.

I agree; organized trolling is GOOD CLEAN FUN and also it's a TEAM BUILDING ACTIVITY.

The problem I've been having is that I can't seem to find good targets anymore. Forums like the Cellar and TCC; people who fill me with loathing and contempt. It's no good when I just feel kind of sorry for them. I don't get that nerve-zap of divine inspiration if I don't hate.

This one looks woowoo pagan and racist...what's not to hate?  :p

Gotta be regged, and the reg is borked.

It worked for me!

Thanks for the reminder, I got an activation mail in my spamcatcher account too.

The reg page 404'd me.

Maybe just a glitch? If you can get in, I highly recommend it. I already hate the shit out of these people. I'm in as an Orcadian Druid.

I used to criticize RAW mainly because I knew it would make a certain contingent of Discordians screech with fan-boi rage.  I'm very much a "no gurus" kind of person, so watching people treat him as The Discordian Guru used to...well, kinda annoy me a little.

RAW himself I'm more ambivalent about.  He had some interesting ideas...but a lot of crap ones too.  And, well, we all know about his writing style...

RAW was once asked what his current focus was and he said "Well, mostly selling more books and making some money."

:lulz:

What's especially funny is that I'm pretty sure I remember some people having a go at Doloras LaPicho (Chaos Marxism) for saying almost exactly the same thing about him.

Well, in that instance it was some college lecture and some members of the audience gasp audibly at his comment. But RAW never really made a secret of it, or of his disgust of 'disciples'. One of my favorite quotes from him is "A disciple is just an asshole looking for a human being to attach itself to".

I love DA (see the Wikipedia entry on Towel Day). I think he is definitely among the great Discordian non-prophets, I'd say Hunter Thompson was another...

For me, RAW was especially useful because of my personal background (born and raised a Jehovah's Witness for 23 years). I know that there are plenty of other people that have written stuff like RAW's, but for me, the style and the philosophy was what really kicked my pineal gland into full gear. ;-)

The fun as philosophy was good... but the argument for Maybe Logic was so much more powerful for me. Having spent so long 'knowing the Truth' (a JW idiom for being in the religion)... it was a shock and a very powerful tool to realize that I didn't need to know the truth... but could deal with shades of maybe. But, I also know that it worked for me, based on my BiP... and it doesn't/couldn't/shouldn't work for everyone :)

Dude, in my teens, my friend Dave had a huge van and my "posse" (of sad-sack RPG nerds and 90s Manic Panic gravers) used to go out "Land Pirating." Our favorite thing to do was during Christmastime, we'd go out and steal all the decorations off the North Shore mansions then painstakingly and lovingly decorate the houses and churches the Jehovah's Witnesses around our town.

I guess I was Discordian before I'd ever even heard the word uttered. (And yes, I was Cult of Ecstasy when we played Mage)

Dude, the only Truth I know in this world is that we're all chock full of bullshit and don't know what the fuck we're doing. My homeopathic remedy for the resulting psychological brain-freeze is to play "Entry of the Gladiators" as loud as it will go and fuck myself with a squeaky-toy.

I missed half of this conversation but I'm butting in now only to say I've been busy doing things like this

to garden gnomes.

My IRL life is full of new career that I hate followed by home projects I haven't finished and a crippling depression from lack of any real creative outlet.
the kind I want.
I feel like a cog in a machine off to the side spinning by myself cause it doesn't wanna touch the other cogs and I'm mad at them for all their purpose. Like jealousy only with more rage and less "wish it was me".
I haven't been posting too much because my creative juices have pretty much stopped and I haven't much to add to the board other than angry blurting yelling for no reason. Which is pretty much how I act in person. How awful it is to know me.
I miss getting out of town, having days off or a minute to myself.
I want a do-over.

Eater of Clowns

I'm on interbutts probation at work because I'm violating a vague rule that keeps changing, so I'm effectively out of the game even more than my lurking ass ever was.

It does suck when some content gets posted and it just slips down the page, though.  It's not even lack of posts in the threads; nobody reads them either.  It'll get a dozen reads and then it's done.  I'm not upset about it, but it does say that there isn't any interest in my content here so I might as well not put it up.  It can go unread just as well on a blog as it can on a forum.  I can imagine how much more frustrating that is for continuous producers rather than someone like myself who just puts some shit up every few months.

Anyone know how IRC has been lately?  Is that place as much of a dead zone as this one is?
