No that was the people involved going, "the Island is not Purgatory" and then having all of the flash forwards being Purgatory, yes seriously, Purgatory, but no we didn't lie to you because that's what Jack's experiencing just after he dies in the final scene where Vincent the Dog comes up and keeps him company as the plane flies away, presumably to Los Angeles. The Island is still totally not Purgatory but we won't bother to give you a satisfying ending.
