We have fleets of fed-funded SWAT teams just LOOKING for something to do around here. It's pretty scary. If they don't use the equipment and make enough arrests, they lose their funding.

I'm gonna argue that.  Cops are not gangsters.  Gangsters operate from a profit motive.

Cops don't even have that excuse.  They're the same people, by and large (though not without exception) as the people who would have lined up to enlist in the SS.

This isn't strictly true anymore, because of the monetization of drug arrests thanks to the "war on drugs". But otherwise, I totally agree with your post.

Hah, indeed.  But it's even easier than that.  As a dirty cop, you can't not only make money based on what you do, but also on what you don't do.  Who you don't arrest, or you don't see committing a crime.

Hah, indeed.  But it's even easier than that.  As a dirty cop, you can't not only make money based on what you do, but also on what you don't do.  Who you don't arrest, or you don't see committing a crime.

A guy I used to work for was moving into the big time. He had about half a dozen coppers on the payroll. Bust and grass tipples were a lot more important that turning a blind eye, although I guess they were kinda doing that just by pocketing the cash
