"I'm guessing it was January 2007, a meeting in Bethesda, we got a bag of bees and just started smashing them on the desk," Charles Wick said. "It was very complicated."

I loved that show!

They just don't allow that level of Weird on TV anymore.  Honestly, I think Yo Gabba Gabba has come the closest, though it is still fairly safe.

I cannot see the video, but I have never had any doubt at all as to why our generation is fucked up.

The first time I saw that I thought Grace Jones had the same tailor as Batman because of the molded plastic bodice thing. And I thought she stole a sheet of fun foam for a hat. I spent the whole day trying to figure out what kind of craft stores they had in Gotham and if Batman let her drive the Batmobile there to get her fun foam, or if they just sent Alfred.

Now we're raising kids. WHERE DOES IT END???

That's the kicker. It doesn't end. It doesn't ever end. You may. But IT won't.

I do, at least, have the pleasing but eerie sensation that my children are better-adjusted than I am.

I think that's the goal. To survive and evolve to the point where, when you reproduce, your offspring walk away from their childhood with less damage than you did.

Note I said 'think'. I refuse to reproduce so it's sort of a moot point on my end. But I like to think parents don't intend to fuck their children over in the mental health department, if only so I can sleep at night.

Well, that's always been the old saying.  Wanting your kids to have a better life than you did.  I don't think that is always possible, unfortunately.

I think you may sleep safely, most parents don't bring children into the world with the explicit intention of screwing them up. Many manage, though, anyways.

And, yes, Nigel, that is an eerie feeling. In my case, it is occasionally tinged with envy. I could have had such a fun time during my childhood...

Our children's generation has its problems, but it is definitely more civilized than ours.
