This actually explains EVERYTHING. I'm NOT going the social work route, so that's out. Psych degree>Neuroscience program. So, something similar, only I'm going to guess PTSD-ridden brain trauma researcher, with an incredible breakthrough in neuroplasticity and no budget to develop it.

Thing to remember, as I have tried to explain to my boss, is that the light at the end of the tunnel isn't a train, it really IS daylight.  It's just that the tunnel is vertical...It's a well, and we're at the bottom of it.
