But there's also a chance he'll get help, too.

He got *some* help when in last time.
If he gets the same psychiatrist, I'm hopeful.  She did decent work.

Ultimately, if he's really unhappy with what I did, it's not like he can't kill himself when he gets out, I suppose.

This all hurts so much. I try not to think about it all day, then at night I feel like my guts got ripped out. I wish my ex were gone so nobody were here to hear me screaming, because the idea of her blank and lying face looking at me in that kind of agony...No.  No more of that.
Hope was the thing with feathers.

WELLLLLLL....

I spoke to him on the phone.  He's back in reality, thank goodness...
...And apparently his caseworker was having him sectioned before I called the cops anyway.  And he was HAPPY about the both of us doing this!
I thought he'd be furious, he was SO determined to "go home."

Too, he told me that I had his permission to call the cops on him in the future! *GIANT RELIEF*
I think I will ask if it's ok to call his caseworker in case of an emergency, maybe? See if I can get the okay for that in the future.
.....

And then he told me about how the taking-into-custody ended up involving a SWAT team and probably six snipers...

When he goes off the rails...it's a bad, bad day.

Well that's all good news - at least none of the snipers needed to take a shot or anything. Deep breath. Have some whiskey. Crisis averted!

I sent an email thanking the police for showing restraint.
In the U.S. I think he would have been likely died in a hail of bullets, TBH.
It wasn't just the knives, the air rifle, and the hatchet... he also improvised a FLAMETHROWER...

...He's a nice guy right up until he goes into psychosis.
He was already under section while this was going on; thanks be unto his caseworker, who actually gives a damn.

...I kid him that him he has Intermittent Explosives Disorder.

I really am, oddly, very proud of him for requiring a whole SWAT team to go to the psych ward...I'm looney, you know, but he takes it to a whole new level...I am like, so owned...

Heh, well done in keeping him alive.

Update:
They let him out, mainly because he's too good at finding sharps in the hospital, so they can't really keep him alive, I guess?
I don't know.

...I think he's going to kill himself, and I don't think it's in my power to stop him.

Nope, NHS.  Cost-savings...He was already in for a while last year, they're tired of spending money on him, I think.

Edit: I think it's unethical.  But I'm just someone who loves him.  I don't matter.

...I can live through this. I will.

Couldn't they put him in a better psych ward? Or at least a better secured wing?

I mean granted, he required a SWAT team, but ah... whatever happened to straightjackets and padded rooms? It's not a great option but if you have permission to intervene in the future, the man must want, on some level, to get better and live.

Due to recent NHS funding cuts the mental health system is woefully under-equipped. We've had all sorts of bullshit with my sister on this.
