I suspect that Dylan has been building an interesting old coot his whole life. He might even have looked forward to getting old, in some ways.

I think you can do that, start cultivating qualities before you're old that will make people want to be around you later on, and some people do that. Others just refuse to think about it, and when their shit starts falling apart, they have some kind of panic reaction and REALLY fuck things up.
