Thanks, all. Way to deliver LMNO! That's exactly what i was looking for -- I really appreciate it.

Inge, sounds like quite an experience.  AAAAAAnd we too are staying at the Chateau Dupre!  I'm quite excited. We've actually been married for 11 years but are now finally able to get to the honeymoon part ;)

Roger,  I was thinking about finding out wtf happened to Verthaine I'll keep an eye out for a strange "church" lol

Even after 15 years of marriage I marvel at how little hubby and I really know one another, though... so maybe such a "freshness" will help renew your relationship and allow the both of you to feel like newlyweds.  :)  Its always fun to pretend, too, accordingly.

They offer lots of tour packages and though I stuck with my friend and we attended every ghost hunting tour offered, they have several that could introduce areas outside of the more immediate surroundings and that might give you the initiative to explore more without the guides.

My friend and I may go back soon. We have been discussing it but we have a seminar coming up and then in March of 2015 I hope to attend a week long seminar. Im certain to not get the time off from the front office to be gone while we have patients, so its only being considered at this point.

Please let us know how well you enjoyed it. Its such a beautifully nostalgic place.

Inge, can you tell us more about your personal life in unrelated threads? It's fascinating, really. Try to spread it out across as many threads as possible if you can, there's a dear.

Really, sometimes it seems your responses are a bit catty.  :(  I was merely responding in kind. Do I really disclose so much personal stuff? To what magnitude? Most of the things I convey seem pretty average and completely common, which makes, for all the wordy detail, saying much very little in retrospect. Incase I've offended you with a writer's flare, to put it simply, I've said a lot to share so little.

I've noticed the anonymity most posters retain. While I don't participate online solely for attention, I do appreciate the interaction.

The internet is an important tool in networking. If you have further concerns or complaints, so that we don't clog up board threads with my tediously defensive responses, PM me.

Okay! did the bourbon street thing...and i see what you mean by 'the horror'. The burlesque show was wonderful and the token queen was fabulous..but i gotta say the best part was watching the folks from....oh let's say Wisconsin...cringe their way through the show. It was like this subtle dilemma between "oh i want to get my 20 bux worth" and "this androgynous spectacle makes me uncomfortable".  Meanwhile we're hooting and hollering.  It was marvelous. We even stayed for the all-male review which was as expected and just as wonderful.  They even had a token hipster soldier bit which was my favorite.  We some how found ourselves in marie laveaux's and decided it was better to spend our money there while sober.  Amazingly we made our way back to the hotel.  Now i must stop typing becuause i don't think the wife wants PD to be privy about what is to happen next.

Hahahaha! OMG. There was no Burlesque show while we were there.  :(  Instead, we did see a Zydeco band. Very lively and entertaining.  I agree, though, some of the most entertaining sites of all was just watching the other people who were obviously there visiting and experiencing culture shock. Marie Laveaux's was another favorite. I was so distracted, though, by keeping my friend from stalking the area pirates that were floating from bar to bar. Thankfully, most places she could not get her automated wheelchair up and into so it kept her on the street and within eyesight.  :)

Gosh, I wonder who started this thread and what it's about? If only there was some way to find out.

Took the Trolley to the French market. Bought 25 voodoo dolls and 16 magnets for friends and family.  (Things should get interesting).  My daughter wanted some gemstones so we grabbed some from a witch at a witch shop.  She was sitting motionless behind as screen.  As you walk by you don't expect her to be just sitting there. No expression. Maybe she was in a trance summoning Gerald Gardner or something.

After that we went to Cafe Du Monde which was wonderful! Then we went back to the hotel. Made out. Fell asleep.  We woke up around 5 o'clock and headed over to the Original Oyster Factory and scarfed down a bunch of oysters, red fish and crab cakes. We ate to the sounds of spring  who played the audience really well. So we bought ourselves a CD.  Spring is a one man pianist, sax player and vocalist.  He was appreciated.

Then we went over to Gazebo's for that Cajun Bloody Mary but they closed at six. :(

After that, we just walked around St. Louis Cathedral and enjoyed the sounds of a accordion player, then grabbed some gelato, coffee and headed back to the hotel.

Tomorrow we're probably going to hit up the museums ...voodoo and wwii.

Wife is passing out.  And I'm like...a block from bourbon street.  This may not end well.

HA! we passed out!  I swear I'm such an old man sometimes.
I did, however, wake up first...and...well...you may continue your jumping :P

See, i SAY burlesque but it was probably as close to burlesque as they could get.  I mean there was a high degree of fabulous, so I guess that's all ya really need.

I'm pretty excited about the voodoo tours tomorrow. I REALLY love the historical flavor of the place.  It's like once you know more of the history the whole environment takes on a whole new perspective. Previously you're just soaking up what's going on now which is wonderful in itself. When you know the past of the place...you're walking in it's soul.

If the witch was summoning Uncle Gerry, you'd probably have seen her at the burlesque show. He was into that sort of thing, if you know what I mean. Him and Uncle Al. All about the 'eye of horus'.

Glad you're having a great time. :)

Burns, you guys are soooo cute! I'm glad you're having a fabulous time.

Thank you :)  The misses is feeling exceptionally sweet this week :)))

Bu🤠ns

This morning we went to the Vacherie Cafe a couple blocks down from our hotel.  Asia, our waitress, was really nice and gave us a good tip on finding a reputable tattoo parlor.  I had it in my head that the misses and I were going to get matching tattoos but that idea was short lived.  We did check out Downtown Tattoos (as Electric Ladyland was a bit outside our scope) but we decided against it for now.  Vacherie had an amazing crawfish frittata which is highly recommended.

Jackson Brewery has public restrooms.  That is all.

Then it was the tattoo parlor which didn't pan out but we found a great little coffee shop where we met this guy:

He found that there were some amazing crumbs around the place as he pretty much walked around like he owned the place. Although I suspect he didn't because pigeons don't make coffee.  :fnord:

We checked out Marie Laveau's historic house which, if you're not paying attention, you'll walk right past it. Someone currently lives there and I suspect they're probably okay with people taking pictures of their house.

Or at least I certainly hope so.  If I wake up with a shrunken head or rockin rager I'll know where to look first....and thank them.

We hopped on the trolley to Mothers.

Holy mouth watergasm....LMNO wasn't kidding.

We ordered the Original Po Boy with debris as recommended and the wife ordered a fresh seafood Oyster and Shrimp Po boy..
i mean LOOK AT THIS!  I think i may just have to go back.

If they are open I might just have to slip out and go eat another one of those.

Then the rest of the day was basically spent just bummin around.  We grabbed some Aunt Sally's Pralines.  Grabbed a Cajun Bloody Mary from the Gazebo...which, incidentally, was the best damn bloody mary both my wife and I have ever tasted. Once again, thanks LMNO.

We dropped by the voodoo museum and bought tickets for tomorrow at 1:00pm for their tour.  I stopped in a occult bookstore and picked up a gargoyle (for the son..he asked for a gargoyle specifically...i dunno) and the Zombie Tarot which is ridiculously funny to me...

Then we came back, chilled a bit in the hotel and went out back to Cafe Du Monde a second time because that was required...then popped in and out of some shops and called it a night :)

Mesozoic Mister Nigel

That looks like an awesome time, Burns. Also for some reason I found the pigeon wayyy more funny than was probably warranted, which may be because it's late and I've had a few glasses of wine.
