I just don't get this SUDDEN URGENT DESIRE TO BE CLEAN AND FANCY. Especially when it is preceded by "not telling anyone" and "slipping silently into the bathroom".

My day so far:

Well that looks promising...

I just spent an hour listening to our scheduling manager - who has no technical experience - telling me how to repair a piece of equipment.  Note that this repair means a confined space entry involving contractors, etc.

I fear that I may have been less than patient.  Rude, even.  This will cause problems later.  I don't care.  The most they can do is fire me.  I'd like that.

Swam another 800m today. When all is said and done, it's taking me about a half hour give or take because I'm deliberately not killing myself. I did one race-speed sprint of freestyle today and was like, NOPE. Just not ready for it yet. Either way, I'm trying for 1000m swims next week. I figure every week adding another 200m is a good plan.

It makes me feel zen, though. I mean, I'm sure it's mild chlorine poisoning and just general exhaustion, but I feel pretty chill when I get home.  :fnord:

Well done.

I made a very sick minion underling employee who needs invasive surgery cry today. She got diagnosed about 4 months ago and expected surgery within a month. For unknown reasons the surgery kept not happening repeatedly and the last date I heard was in about 2 weeks. The ARBO Doctor (that is a doctor paid by the company but employed by the state) said she could work 4 days of 4 hours a week. She tried for a while but quickly insisted she couldn't. The company eventually allowed her to use her vacation days instead of working1, but she is running out of vacation days now. I'm the one who got to call her  and tell her she had to come back to work for 10 more hours in the last week before her surgery. (spread out over 3 days per the ARBO doctor's instructions.)
This is a horrible situation and I feel shitty now. This is the first time I questioned the dutch laws protecting employee privacy. I'm pretty sure that the rules could be relaxed if management knew exactly what she suffered from, but neither the doctors or the ARBO people are allowed to tell them, and she doesn't want to talk about it. Don't get me wrong, I respect her wishes but I hate seeing her suffer. This is very hard for me, but nowhere near as hard as it is for her.

I feel like an evil corporate tool.

1 this is frowned upon by the ARBO people because it slows down reintegration into the workforce.

This is another one of those cases of uninformed, unwanted, unsolicited advice, isn't it?

Swimming always makes me really relaxed. I'm gonna swim on Tuesdays and Thursdays next term, I think. And hit up the sauna after.

I kinda feel amazing. I wish I could commit to more than twice a week, but I think it will work out in the long run.  I got the clearance from my podiatrist and physical terrorist to start TaeKwonDo again as long as I commit to my stretches and wear the brace for the next 2 months, that will be huge too. I put 5cm back onto my Achilles tendon in a month. That's how taut up my damn ankle was.

I need to stay active and on plan for my diet thanks my my Hashimoto's. I really should name it after a Godzilla monster, but like one of the other MA students says, "Don't name things. If you name them, they get a personality. This may not work in your favor." I don't think I want my already dysfunctional glad with anymore personality.  :?
