And if poverty breeds violence, how is Providence, RI, known for it's staggering population below the national poverty level, one of the least violent places I've ever lived? The entire state of Rhode Island with a population of about 2 million people will have about 40 murders a year, whereas the Tampa Bay area, where I used to live, with a similar population amount and a higher income demographic, will have 40 murders in a month?
