in that case, they'll probably want to get THIS.

I showed him that when it first came out, and he took offense at it.

Sadly it wasn't just my boss. My mother fell victim to the "folksy" persona, and would tell me "there's nothing bad about that woman!!! she's more real than any of the rest of them!!!"
We appear to be doomed by our DNA to repeat the same destructive behaviors our forebears have repeated for millenia. If anything our problem solving skills have actually diminished with the advent of technology & our ubiquitous modern conveniences. & yet despite our predisposition towards fear-driven hostility; towards what we anachronistically term primitive behavior another instinct is just as firmly encoded in our make-up. We are capable as our ancestors were of incredible breathtaking acts of kindness. Every hour of every day a man risks his life at a moments notice to save another. Forget for a moment the belligerent benevolent billionaires who grant the unfortunate a crumb of costfree cake. I speak of pure acts of selflessness. A Mother who rushes into the street to save a child from a speeding vehicle. A person who runs into a burning building to reach a family trapped on the upper story. Such actions, such moments, such unconscious selfless decisions, define what it is to be human

Example, my boss used to say to me, "I don't understand what you have against Palin, I think she's dreamy". That's fucking scary.

Send your boss Eva Braun porn for Christmas.

Two Russians just happen to be driving a tank through Alaska when they run out of gas then go bang the governor

Am I the only one that thinks hoopla wrote this?
Through me the way to the city of woe, Through me the way to everlasting pain, Through me the way among the lost.
Justice moved my maker on high.
Divine power made me, Wisdom supreme, and Primal love.

"More real" is a horrible litmus test for political office, by the way.  Sure, liars aren't great either, but lets just imagine that the "real" Sarah Palin is the VP.

Now, imagine the protests over the Iranian election have started, and McCain has incapacitated himself with an Ambien overdose.

Sarah Palin would almost without a doubt order the invasion and/or bombing of Iran, to support the attempts to overthrow the regime.  Causing chaos to spread through Iraq, Syria and Lebanon.  Hezbollah retaliating with attacks on Tel Aviv.  Iranians attacking shipping in the Straits of Hormuz.  Iraq exploding into violence.  Etc etc

Being real don't matter squat when your politics make Nero look sensible.

Many were turning on her before the election - in other words saw the writing on the wall. The fundies like her, but if there was good a turn out in the election she would be a liability

The thing is though, both Kristol and Krauthammer also liked her, but they're atheists.

What is with the Neocons wanting to put their political dicks in every Christian fundie going?  Its pathological, it really is.

It makes perfect sense to me.

Government, since the 60's has interfered with Church sanctioned bigotry, prejudice and ignorance. The Christian Wingnuts are ripe for 'anti-government' sentiment, because they see the government interfering with God's Law. If you, as a politician, tell them that you can SAVE them, they'll support you.

Conservative/NeoCon types want control of the government. They think government should stay the hell out of the way. Conservative ideology works for a subset of a given population. If you have the capital you can make money. If you have the influence you can get ahead. However, there aren't enough People to get a system like that elected, so you have to find other people that THINK you will help them. Enter the Christians.

At this point, I think it obvious that the GOP doesn't really care about gays/abortion etc. Having Bush and Co in power for eight years cemented that in my mind. There wasn't even a serious move to push out Roe v Wade or or have a Constitutional Amendment on Marriage. No, there was some lip service, a couple speeches and that was about it. They love Palin and Huckabee and all the rest, because they will get ballots in boxes. If our choice were between a godless liberal and a godless conservative, the Christians would probably stay home and await the Rapture.

Yes, but they can't control these people and one day they have to know the fundies will eat them alive.

Happened in Kansas and it'll happen on a national level too.

It's that or become a completely impotent party that has no control at the federal level...

It's like Babylon the Harlot of Revelations riding the Wlid Beast... at some point, it will turn on her and eat her alive. But till then, its a helluva ride.

I hate to say it but the left gets a big "I TOLD YOU SO" on this one.

My opinions on Sarah Palin prior to this shitfuck nonsense: "She seems like a smart lady with her heart in the right place. I will never vote for her because of her extreme, anti-feminist, Christian rhetoric but I think she's a smart, capable candidate who might be worth something if she ever cools down off that shit."

My opinion now: "You IDIOT. How is it "serving Alaska" if you take away their right to their chosen elected official?!? Have you no sense of responsibility to the people who voted you in?"

She showed her true colours as a batshit insane, stir-crazy mayor of Mooseville. Only "Mooseville" is a magickal place in her head where bridges to nowhere reach straight up into the heavens like rainbows and Jesus himself slides down from the sky and tells her that she has a Higher Purpose.

110 % agree

One of the main problems is they think the fundamentalism of religion will unite the people... what they failed to understand is that much of American fundamentalism is apocalyptic

That's a good way of putting it.
The Republican party is not going to get any more support from the middle until they get it through their heads. This is not about "separation of church and state," it's about "we think your magical beliefs about a guy in the sky telling me I can't marry a girl or take drugs makes you a questionable character for public leadership."
