Bloomsday iss the annual celebration held in honour of ST james of Joyce, for Ulysses was set on this day, and Bloom was the central wanderer in that hefty tome. Hence Blooms day.
Today happens to be the 100th one, so double woo. It very much an intelectualised st Paddies day, with proffessers getting drunk and adopting faux irish accents... and like the book it ends in an extended episode of masturbation.

I found a wonderful old copy of Ulysses at a garage sale once.
It had notations in the margins and best of all, the second person to own
it had gone through and argued with most of the points the first person made.

I had fun doing the same and would pass it on again, but can't bear to part with it.
