Is it worse than that awful SciFi SyFy Channel Earthsea mini series? Because that was pretty gag-inducing.

It's the production company that did Hercules and Xena, but they actually learned not to be (too) cheesy. The TV plot is half-way through book 2, with some alteration and embellishment. Zedd is hilarious, and our 10 yr old watches it whenever he can catch it.
