I've found that the amount of enjoyment I feel is directly proportional to the amount of awfully awfuls of which I'm aware.  I'm sick right now but generally I'm feeling pretty decent and reasonable.  That's because I know in the back back back of my mind there is the mere potential for the most awful things to happen.  They don't HAVE to happen but their shear possibility is enough.  In contrast to that, I'm feeling pretty damn alright.

QuoteYou all talk of how sucky the world is, moaning about your lives and constantly re-itterating how terrible the world is.

Well, lets be honest: I'm the one who mostly talks about what a shit condition the world is in.  Ever wonder why?  Could it be that I have a deep and abiding interest in how the world works and what is going on, and it just so happens much of what goes down out there is bad, or nasty, or horrible or whatever?  And yeah, I did moan about my life for a while, but to be fair, I got shafted bad.

QuoteYou're trapped in a web of Pragmaticism, looking at the big concept of "The World" through a microscope which is your life.

What is this Pragmaticism of which you speak?  I assume you mean Pragmatism, but I want to make sure.  And even then, that doesn't make much sense.  I'm also pretty sure "the world" doesn't work in the same way as this rather dull, if slightly seedy country town.  No, I'm pretty sure the rest of the world is, by and large, much more difficult, dangerous, heartbreaking, horrormirthy, hilarious, exhilarating and murderous than what exists here.  Believe me, the world would probably be a morally better, if duller place, if it reflected my current surroundings.  No urban guerrilla warfare, black flag ops, secret prisons, or dodgy diamonds for YUO.

QuoteYou know, when I first came here, I was truly intrigued by what seemed to be a genius school of thought.

That may have been your mistake.  This is just warmed over Beatnik nonsense, with a dash of Taoism, Zen and Dada.

QuoteBut the truth is: you're pointlessly hurting yourselves.  Popping an instinctive bubble your brain has made to make life wonderful-seeming.

You seem to be confusing wonderful with "good".  A few philosophy lessons will no doubt beat that out of you in due time.  Wonderful is derived from "wonder", which can mean astonishment, admiration or doubt.  I feel all three of those on a daily basis.

QuoteBut if your personal life is good, you'll find a problem in your country, or the world, or something.  Searching for another problem you can't fix just to remind everybody, you were right and Logic is all there is.

I was right all along anyway.  Papal infalliability.  And...logic?  You really aren't up on how this forum views certain things, especially logic.

QuoteIf Logic is truly all there is, you might as well kill yourself-- you'll find no solace in it, real or not.

You seem to have quite a bugbear about logic...I'm pretty sure whether or not logic is all there is, its not worth killing yourself over.  And "solace"?  Who wants solace?  Apart from Christians and hippies and New Agers and really tired parents of newborn children, naturally.  Why do you assume those of us here especially want solace?

QuoteMy only real advice being: scrap everything but the pinealism and the recipes on here.

Your advice has been given all the merit it is due, and so ignored.  LMNO-PI is a masterpiece of meta-post-surrealist-fiction.

QuoteThe Principia Discordia was written as a joke, as "how to escape whatever you want", not as a political dogma nor as a guide to living.

Because I see a lot of that here, really.  Also look at you, reading the mind of Thornley and Hill.  Impressive.

QuoteYou can eat hot dogs on Fridays

I do anyway.  Well, if I have any, and am feeling lazy.  You can get them for less than a pound at the nearby store, and only take a few minutes to cook.  Perfect lazy food.

Quote-- but the original concept Mal-2 was probably aiming for has been so far distorted

OH NOES!  We are not being sufficiently faithful to the original concept of Mal-2!  Which, as I recall, you just dismissed as "being written as a joke".  So we either don't take it seriously, or take it too seriously, which is it?

Quoteand it's modern-day replacement is rehashed so often on here, there's no discussion.  "This is the truth-- if you don't like it, suck it. "

Funny how quick people are to proclaim a singular viewpoint as being "the truth".    No evidence, no attempt at structuring an argument, just plain assertion.  Very amusing.

QuoteBut-- Idealism and dreams are lost.

Have you checked down the back of the sofa?  I know this much, they're always in the last place you look for them (lol, tautology).

QuoteYou abandon any hope for a better future

Oh, not any hope.  Just most of them.  But they weren't really that good anyway.

Quotewhining about how bad things are on this site which considerably few people know of.

I'm not sure why that is relevant.  I'm just going to assume that was a jab of some sort.

QuoteSo please.  Life is an abstract painting: stop looking for the goat you were told about.

I'm sure this sounded deep when you committed it to this post, but its not, really.

ThisIsMyName.StopAsking : , you might actually really dig the MaybeLogic forums? They're a bit more tuned into the feel-good Discordia vibe.

Anyway, despite all this clannish jabbering,  I hope you stick around. You'll find that although we disagree about a lot of things, this community is actually really positive about creativity and original thoughts.

TIMNSA, I think just about every poster here has your reaction at some time or another.  But then, like prodigal sons, they come home.  *shrug*  It is what it is.  You don't have to be here, no one pays you.  To tell a forum full of active posters to wipe their content is, well, hyperbolic at best and just shitty at worst.  This is time I spend away from my everyday (very fucking BUSY everyday) pursuits...it's going to end up important to me.

So you don't like it/us/being here.  So go away.  Go find somewhere else to hang, Dude--why stick around a place that makes you feel bad?  What a waste!

...your OP makes me think, though, that you haven't really read enough to know what this group of cats is about.  I think you should be reading more...there's tons in here.  Silliness, heartbreak, art, political commentary, history, literature...more silliness.  And I don't mean the zomg23pineal crap either.

So go, go have fun somewhere.  Go get your jollies where it counts.  Makes sense for you, rather than shit-kicking it here.

...but you'll be back.  They all come back.  At some point or another.

Skipping the past few pages to be amazed at how quickly this prodigal genius has, in barely over two months (a chunk of which, he/she admits, was spent away from this site), distilled the entirety of everything everyone here has said in the years the forum has been in existence. That's a hell of a lot of reading to pull off in less than two months. Furthermore, he's managed to tell us what our opinions and viewpoints about the world are, which is a relief, because I was getting awfully confused about what my own ideas were.

The world is a terrible place.

So long as one terrible thing happens, it has to be recognized as such.  Otherwise you compromise on how much terrible it takes.  Any terrible is too terrible.  One kid starving while excess foodstuffs are destroyed is too many - if that occurs and you don't call the world terrible you're essentially saying that this kind of thing is okay.

I doubt you'll read through five pages to get this far, and that's precisely the problem with the OP and perfectly describes your mistaking the world for being a decent place.  You aren't looking past the surface.
