Rumour has it the Romanian Securitatea had radiological weapons they used in assassinations, called "Radu".  It was intended to cause cancer in the target and make the death look natural.

It is, of course, only an uncomfirmed rumour, but several Romanians dissidents working at Radio Free Europe did come down with cancer.  There is no mention what isotope was used in Radu, unfortunately, but the KGB were the ones who apparently developed it.
