The game itself is an exercise in dealing with/manipulating/interpreting information, which in alot of ways is at the heart of every GASM. The game itself may be just a game, but it is also a type of exercise to keep your mind sharp when looking at and manipulatiing info and the way people perceive said info. It may not be content but it's really a sort of training exercise.

I've thought about this and caught up with it.  Here's what I'm thinking:

This is not the place to stand up and say either "This applies to me because I don't contribute content" or "This doesn't apply to me" and especially not "This doesn't apply to him, her, her, or the other one."  This is where ECH addresses the problem he's been seeing and quite a few people who have been here for a while and that I respect agree with him.

ECH, your clarification since the first post is helpful, because honestly the first one came across as very ivory tower, etc.  It seems you didn't mean it to, but you have to look at the fact that HFLS and Bella flounced because of it and just about everyone else interpreted it that way.  And your refusal to not name names of those who you think this applies to is a class act.

Now there's been a lot of talk about content ITT.  Trip and a few others seem upset that it's being defined here as a creative writing response to fluff or some kind of art, which is not their strong point nor the strong point of a big portion of the forums.  Just because someone isn't a writer doesn't mean they don't provide input.  Thoughtful discussion of topics, participation in O:M, WOMPs, and a bunch of other things (forum mood signatures especially) are content.  OT is content, this post is an attempt at content, and my previous posts ITT are probably not content.

So the idea is to make a separate place, supposedly not secret or elite or anything, wherein serious discussion and goals are the focus instead of fluff (BTW:  Not Facebook for weirdos is newsfeed material).  Obviously there's objection to this.  I think the topic to this point has established that there IS a problem with the fluff and the lack of content, at least with several members, so now it seems that the question is what to do about that.

Making a new place is one angle.  I can get behind it so long as it isn't the super special area that's been discussed and is focused on something specific.  That, to me, essentially just makes it a GASM, and one that I'm not sure I'd join up with.

But I don't think it needs to happen.  I think something can be done to relegate the fluff to one area.  I know THIS IS APPLE TALK but clearly it isn't working as intended if there's still a problem.  The Bodega and whatever variations got out of hand by growing to 200+ pages in like a month, so that didn't work.  If I'm reading others correct there's an issue with too many fluff threads as well as too many fluff posts.

There's been quite a few attempts at killing fluff threads by mocking them in the last few weeks, doesn't seem to work.

At this point I'm not sure what I'm getting at.  Maybe there should just be a general "Does anyone actually give a fuck?" policy before posting a new thread or stupid comment.

Actually Trip, speaking of content, how about making a button, right after you click Post it comes back with "Does anyone actually give a fuck about this?"
