Because seeing that FlockDraw thread is really making me want to buy a drawing tablet real SOON. As in, today or tomrorow SOON.

Also in that case SUGGESTIONS+EXPERIENCES ON YOUR TYPE AND BRAND OF TABLET PLEASE -- I know that you artsy types have one. Fred, Nast, Net and Telarus looking at you!
Also because Net loves fonts, classifying him as an artsy type is extra hilarious funny.
Amazon has the Bamboo real cheap. My daughter has one, I am gonna steal the shit out of it.

That's the one I have. It's been lying around in variying states of disuse for about 2 years now, but FlockDraw has been a good excuse to pick it up again. Tablets are cool, but for me it's waaaaaay different than pen and paper. There's more of a eye-brain-hand disconnect thing going on, but like anything it just takes some practice to get into the groove of it.

Also,

your dick.

hm good point I had not considered ordering one online.

it's not the default choice yet, in the Netherlands. although it's getting there for books and computer hardware, at least. since they have their iDeal ordering systems down right. that's a online service from the Dutch banks you can use to pay straight from your bank account using your online banking login and text message code confirmation. works really well. we don't really use creditcards a lot, not really widespread anyway, mostly at restaurants and because they're useful for when you go on holiday to a foreign country (cause you pay later and they're insured).

anyway, I digress (just woke up, in a digressing mood)

I was more looking for suggestions/advice/experiences with specific brands and types than where to get them cheap. Since once I decided on that, the one-stop place for ordering computer hardware is Tweakers.net Pricewatch, a Dutch community-driven computar hardware comparison list showing the cheapest places to get computer hardware sorted by price including delivery costs.

And Nast, you're totally right about the eye-brain-hand coordination thing. But it took me about 2 hours to get used to it on my previous Wacom Graphire (small, 6x4 inch). Which got lost in the fire last year so I don't have it anymore. But it also means I can justify spending some of my insurance moneys on getting a new one.

I don't know if Amazon has a warehouse in NL yet, either. Last time (this was a few years ago) I ordered a CD there and it had to come from the UK.

See, this is why I use my dick.

I've been attempting to use the GF's Waycom she got off eBay for $30 shipped.  It's an older graphite one, but it seems to work OK.  The bigger problem is the disconnect I have between what I am doing and what see... i have a lot of trouble getting used to moving without drawing and drawing, or my hand cramping up.

I really enjoy watching you other guys draw stuff with a tablet, it keeps me feeling that I might figure it out someday ;)  Also, I think trying to do flockdraw on an older macbook doesn't help much, the input feels a bit sluggish.  I see Fred's lines coming in pretty quick, so I am assuming a faster machine might help too.

A big part of that is your connection.
