TESTEMONAIL:  Right and Discordianism allows room for personal interpretation. You have your theories and I have mine. Unlike Christianity, Discordia allows room for ideas and opinions, and mine is well-informed and based on ancient philosophy and theology, so, my neo-Discordian friends, open your minds to my interpretation and I will open my mind to yours. That's fair enough, right? Just claiming to be discordian should mean that your mind is open and willing to learn and share ideas. You guys are fucking bashing me and your laughing at my theologies and my friends know what's up and are laughing at you and honestly this is my last shot at putting a label on my belief structure and your making me lose all hope of ever finding a ideological group I can relate to because you don't even know what the fuck I'm talking about and everything I have said is based on the founding principals of real Discordianism. Expand your mind.

Never heard of that problem before.
"I'm guessing it was January 2007, a meeting in Bethesda, we got a bag of bees and just started smashing them on the desk," Charles Wick said. "It was very complicated."

@NWC: does WINE not handle AoE III?

According to the internet, some people have succeeded in making it work. I tried once, spent about an hour on it, and got nowhere. It's just so much easier to give vista a third of my hard drive for that kind of thing. I pretty much never use wine.

WTF?  Macs don't shutdown from sleep mode if the battery is low?  Even Dells do that.
This would have been two years ago on the macbook, I have the pro now. I still think its a problem they haven't fixed.

Yay! 17 days until Fedora 13 is released.

Let's have some proper software around here, eh?

You mean, stuff that takes a computer science degree to understand, right?

Because Fedora is purposefully obfuscatory.

How is Ubuntu not proper software?  It does everything almost everybody needs a computer for.  It even does some stuff you don't need, and it does it all without needing you to hold its hand.

Can't CS nerds just be happy that there is a single linux distro that normal people might possibly want?

no.
they want to have an exclusive club that they can hold over the heads of the unwashed masses, yet simultaneously want to whine about why said people are unwilling to use their golden boy OS....

This.

Also, be advised that Linux tards are even easier to troll than Objectivists.  Rag on their OS, and they lose their fucking minds.

:lulz:

TBH, it does almost everything I need, except some games.  So I tend to use my windows box, even though windows is a pain in the ass.

i used Ubuntu for a while on a lark when it was a dapper drake, and thought it was pretty decent.

my box just crapped out again and i'm building up a new one now.
i'll give this one a shot...
it's not like i do any gaming on it.
mostly just the intarwebs and downloading/burning media.

Jasper

Yeah, it does all that pretty much out of the box.  Just make sure you grab the restricted extras codec and everything's cherry.

All software should operate "out of the box".  No tweaking or adjustments should be necessary.

For example, this wonderful "Vista" gives me a beautiful sky blue screen, complete with cloud-like white letters spelling doom, without me doing anything whatsoever.

To hell with vista, why not switch back to XP?  It's the only Windows OS I ever liked, and even then only because it doesn't BSOD constantly and I can turn off all the naggy dialogue boxes.
