I like it. Instead of "Effexor", could you use "natural Effexor replacements such as Omega-3 Fish Oil, Kanna (an herb NOT to be used alongside pharmaceutical SSRI-class antidepressants), and St. John's Wort"*

Also, instead of just dropping THC, could you use "the Hawaii Natural Medicine Ministry".

Also I think this line would look better as "Authorities contend they've put a major dent in the competition faced by the Big Island's corporate pharmacies."

Spreading the (re-written) article along with links to the actual story on facebook/twitter/etc/etc is a great direct participation vector. I'll check with the email list discussing this for some other ideas.

California's a funky state in that our localities can have a strange mixture of liberal and conservative authorities.  Counties like San Diego have SUED the state of CA to get federal mj use laws enacted instead of the looser CA state ones.

That's why we have the initiative to legalize and tax mj on the ballot.  To give those same localities the CHOICE of following the law (yes, it's built into the law that the locality can choose to follow it or not, it's strange), but those who are more "liberal" leaning about mj use, growing and distribution can go about their business without these "random" federal + local authority raids.
