Tennessee originally.  Via NC for a few years, then down to Florida for 20+.  Most of my Dad's family is in Virginia and Tennessee.

I think my perceptions were colored by things like that, and Miami and what not. You don't really see much of the swamps and such on TV.

Florida's big enough, it really depends on where you go.  I was shocked when I came there in the late-90's to visit some relatives that it was so "Suhthuhn" and not so metro as "Miami Vice" would have you believe.  Not to mention the assness of Orlando's Disneyshit.  It's like So Cal, the swampy Southern states and little Cuba all rolled into one state, where old people go to die.  The obit section of every local paper in Flor-eye-dah is probably  HUGE.  Along with early bird special coupons.
