TESTEMONAIL:  Right and Discordianism allows room for personal interpretation. You have your theories and I have mine. Unlike Christianity, Discordia allows room for ideas and opinions, and mine is well-informed and based on ancient philosophy and theology, so, my neo-Discordian friends, open your minds to my interpretation and I will open my mind to yours. That's fair enough, right? Just claiming to be discordian should mean that your mind is open and willing to learn and share ideas. You guys are fucking bashing me and your laughing at my theologies and my friends know what's up and are laughing at you and honestly this is my last shot at putting a label on my belief structure and your making me lose all hope of ever finding a ideological group I can relate to because you don't even know what the fuck I'm talking about and everything I have said is based on the founding principals of real Discordianism. Expand your mind.

humans have put people on the moon
we shot bach into space, and it's nearing the edge of our heliosphere
we put satelites around our planet that give us bad TV and cell phones
we sent satalites to jupiter
we built a space station
we sent RC cars to mars
we are trying to send more to mercury

we have not developed a cure to the common cold

this is a gross missallocation of resources
consistancy is the blah blah-blin of blah blah blah

Nope, how many virus' have we found cures for? 1, maybe two?

chaosgraves:agentoferis

I am shocked at the suggestion that we should be putting money to the eradication of lifeforms rather then the continued exploration of a space program.
Constitution?!?!? Isn't that a D&D stat.

Horab Fibslager

viruses can't be cured. theyr'e like gundams for chromosomes. heavily armoured battle suits.
Hell is other people.

i'm all for exploring space..
but i bet aliens hate bach.

hey i'm all for stealing rockets!  we should get some of those RC cars too and race them around the shuttle on the gazillion mile journey to sirius.

There are always going to be new illnesses that show up when we kill the old ones, so by the logic presented the human species would never leave this planet.

Do you have ANY idea what benefits we received from the space program, in terms of spin off technology, etc?

Any?

Roger, spinning rockets are a bad thing.

Resident Yaw is the bane of rockets.

i googled 'space program benefits' and found this website
http://www.thespaceplace.com/nasa/spinoffs.html

PLANT RESEARCH - NASA research on future moon and Mars bases is investigating using plants for food

GOLF BALL AERODYNAMICS - A recently designed golf ball, which has 500 dimples arranged in a pattern of 60 spherical triangles, employs NASA aerodynamics technology

on the upside, however..

SOLAR ENERGY - NASA-pioneered photovoltaic power system for spacecraft applications was applied to programs to expand terrestrial applications as a viable alternative energy source in areas where no conventional power source exists.

Overall every dollar invested in the Apollo space program returned 9 dollars. I'm too lazy to retrieve the reference.
