my wife is so fucking tough that she went all natural.
no pain meds of any sort.
she just squatted holding on to a bed post while i jammed my fist into her lower back for a good number of hours.
then laid back, and shot that little monster out into my waiting mits.
no tearing.
no cutting. (except when i cut the cord)
and we left for home with the new kiddo within 6 hours of birth.

and she did it twice.

I love and fear this woman.
:D

Fuck that noise. I couldn't handle the pain when I had an epidural, although I think it didn't work on me, so  :|

Well this thread has been quite enlightening.

If giving birth is worse then a terrible toothache, all I have to say is: Fuck I'm glad I'm not a woman.

That is all.

Oh, and before any of you go off at me, I mean that in a good way, as in, I'm such a fucking pussy cus I was crying on the floor in agony when I had that toothache a few weeks ago, I couldn't begin to imagine what it must be like for you lot and I really really hope I never find out.

And I never had a kidney stone, and I  hope to the goddess that I never will.
- So the New World Order does not actually exist?
- Oh it exists, and how!
Ask the slaves whose labour built the White House;
Ask the slaves of today tied down to sweatshops and brothels to escape hunger;
Ask most women, second class citizens, in a pervasive rape culture;
Ask the non-human creatures who inhabit the planet:
whales, bears, frogs, tuna, bees, slaughtered farm animals;
Ask the natives of the Americas and Australia on whose land
you live today, on whose graves your factories, farms and neighbourhoods stand;
ask any of them this, ask them if the New World Order is true;
they'll tell you plainly: the New World Order... is you!

I know a guy who keeps having them.  He has an inordinate fondness for painkillers now.

Mesozoic Mister Nigel

My friend who's a pill junkie got that way because of kidney stones, too.

I did natural birth three times and I tore all three times, but not too badly. Healed up quite well. If I had to have another baby for some inexplicable reason, like it was humanity's only hope, I'd do it again.

I have a root canal from a tooth dying and getting infected, and I've had dry socket in my wisdom teeth, and if that's as bad as it gets I'd definitely have to say that childbirth was more painful overall, though a different kind of pain. I never actually thought I was going to die or anything, but it did cross my mind that I wasn't going to be able to do it (as if I had the option of stopping!) especially with the last one, which was a particularly long and challenging labor.

My tonsillectomy/sinus surgery was worse, though. Oh, my. Much, much worse.

I've had a toothache that was marginally worse than childbirth, but only because the eventual extraction was even more traumatizing, so much so that I now have a flat out phobia of dentists and their procedures.

Oh. Well, I'm fine thinking about them, as long as I don't have to be in their office, or contemplate what I have to get done if I don't want to have heart problems in the next few years.

Still not going to click tonight though.

If there's any way you can, see if you can be put under general and have all the work done at once. It's more dangerous but, in your situation, probably worth it.

AHCCCS, the state health insurance I was on, only covered emergency extractions with local, and only up until yesterday. They don't cover any dental for adults anymore. :sad:
